Has Custom Postage Now Gone ?

Please can someone offer some advice.

I've read that we can opt out of the Simple Delivery and still use Custom postage but I cant see the Custom Postage option anymore when adding a listing ?

I've tried this on new listings, revising a listing, listing a similar item, and on listings under £10.

Is there still a way of using Custom Postage or has it completely gone ?

Any advice appreciated.

Simple Delivery is being slowly rolled out to all Private sellers.

Whilst some can still see and use Custom Postage, if it's not now available for you, you are now under Simple Delivery postage only.

Those who do have Custom Postage , some are waking up to see their postage on items automatically changed to Simple Delivery.

There's no escaping SD !

New info, now rollout extended further, combined postage, new parcel sizes, bring a label for collection in the works. Some people have already been given SD only others not. Look for advanced options though you may no longer have that

I stil have the custom options but I won't be using it. whats the pouint if ebays AI is able to change it. You have to be on your toes to keep and eye on your listing. I'm not playing that game.

I put a few back on so that i can check when something happens. 2 are being watched but i can't send an offer because i will have to pay the BPF and i have already lowered my prices to cover it in the first place which i have stated in the listings. So we the sellers are paying it one way or the another

No, you won't.

If *you* send the offer to a buyer, they will see whatever you're offering *plus* the buyer's fee. (so they see a higher amount than the one you sent...)

But if *they* make an offer to you, you will indeed have the BPF taken out of that offer. (So you end up with a lower amount than the one *they* sent.)

Lol i'm so confused i got it the wrong way round. Yes i can send an offer but they can't offer me that's why i took best offers off. But i'm not sending offers because i have already dropped the price.

I got caught with that had an offer on a dress thought it was very low but took it anyway as it had been for sale for a long time afterwards i realised what had happened

Custom Postage will show if the item is being sent by Letter size postage & under £10.

All my items are under £10 but there's no option to select Custom Postage ?

I tried a number of ways, re-listing original items, sell similar, completely new listing.

Does the item have to be under £10 AND be sent by Letter sized OR any one of these two ?

Hi,

My relative was listing on her Private eBay account this morning. She sells items under £10 BIN and sends them by Royal Mail 2nd Class Letter 100g or Large Letter 100g.

For Speed she has her postage policies set up & when I mentioned to her an eBay member was having difficulty in using Customs postage.

Her Advice was

In the postage section when listing, see if there is an 'Advanced option' that can be pressed & will take you to the Custom postage where you can choose Letter or Large Letter RM postage.

Hi,

Theres no "Advanced" link.

I can select "Package Size", which offers a few options, I've put a screenshot.

However, theres no RM Letter or Large letter up to 100g

The post office will also check the weight and size when dropping off the parcel, so those delivery services are no good for sending items such as clothing ect .

Theres no option to select Custom delivery or anything under £10 ?

Oddly, one or two of my listing that I've either relisted or used an old template still show the original delivery service, ie: Yodel ?

Its all a bit confusing if I'm honest.

when you get down to postage click on postage only, then collection then back to postage. Should then show primary delivery. Worked for me a couple of days ago and i was switched last week.

Just tried revising a current listing with that method but it stays on SD.

Maybe it will work if I use the method for a new listing ?

Has anyone confirmed what the situation is? I was able to use custom postage just the other day but it's now gone from the app and desktop browser interfaces.

I need to use the "Letter" service, which costs 87p, but the first option is "Large Letter", which costs £2.70.

I tried changing from "Collection Only" to "Postage Only", but the Custom Postage option didn't appear as others have said it did for them.

What price was the item you were trying to list.
Currently, it seems that the custom option is there if the item is under £10, over and it's SD only.

(By 'currently' I mean today - as SD stuff seems to change daily :()

There are certain categories that default to custom postage eg”postcard”

if you use that as your item title and then “continue without match” it will come up as 87p

Then change it to whatever category you’re selling /amend title

of course to use custom your item must be under £10 and under 100g and letter size

(not sure if you can get away with large letter, try it and see)

You've helped me see the source of the issue: my item is above £10.

I had no idea the item must be below £10 to qualify for Custom Postage. I don't understand why this is, because several items I plan to sell (PS1 games, some without the case) are worth above £10 and below £20, and cost £1-2 less than £2.70 to post.

I suppose I could not purchase the postage via eBay and do it directly from the post office instead, since I may have quite a few items in this price and postage range.

Thanks for your help, you've saved me trying to figure out the problem.

I have always chosen my own courier for the reason that if I sell an item say a set of bicycle forks for example they are large, larger than Ever are will to accept and valuable at potentially £200 - £300 so I need to use Royal Mail Parcel Force Tracked 48 to give the proof of signature plus the insurance cover for damage or loss.

So how is the Simple Postage system going to provide that level of cover for large expensive items when it seems to think everything is under £10 in value and weighs less than a kilo. Somebody at eBay has clearly not thought this through !!

If your item is oversized you should be able to use custom postage

Ebay need to sort it out as people can’t even get the button to click to use it
