Verifying Bank Account For Over a week

I've been waiting for a payout for over a week but eBay are still trying to verify my bank account. I've had 1p go in and 1p go out. Surely it can't take this long usually. I use one of the biggest banks in the world, I'm not sure why it's taking so long. They've not contacted me asking for anything else. Has anyone else experienced this?

So, you've requested the micro deposits, and you received some and then they were deducted again? If so, did you get to enter them in your eBay account, or did you request new ones?

Yep - same, first they tell you it'll take 2 days then a week, customer service were completely useless in this case or most others, I've literally had to repeat the number '2' 4 times over the phone and kept getting asked 'was that a 3?'. So basically they use their platform to keep your money for an arbitrary amount of time to the point where I'm actually considering making a complaint to the financial conduct authority. They've already taken fees and ironically for a company that claims to be 'verifying' my account you can spend the money on ebay only until they say otherwise.

Neither Technicalities nor confusion are legal excuses for witholding payment - if you did this the other way around they'd levy charges against you and there is no law that says a consumer can't do the same. Withholding payment incurs debt and they're using your money to make money of their own.

Hello.

They've now just told me that after the 1p microtransaction has been completed, after 5 weeks, this is what's Happening next

"I have checked the details of your account and can see the payout would be automatically made available for withdrawal by the end of the day today 4th June, 2025. Once you update the payout method, we initiate a bank verification process. I would like to share that when the verification happens between the bank and an individual it can be instantaneous. However, this process is going through between two entities which can take time, as the bank needs to be checked on eBay and your bank also need to check the transaction details that may take time upto 6-8 working days."

It's a scam.

I have that same issue customer has collected the item last Thursday but still waiting eBay to pay me. I have that same 1p in and out but still bank in review. Don’t understand how eBay works. Please le me know if you got your payment.

Did you enter the amount you received in your bank account in your eBay account? To clarify, the way it works is that once you receive the amount in question, you need to go to your eBay account, and enter them. The system will then recognize that they match, and that is what will verify your bank details. If you don't enter them in your eBay account, or if the amounts do not match (this is why you have to enter them in the exact same way you receive them), your account will not be verified.

Thank you I received money after 2 days of posting on eBay community because I was new seller and first product sold so they took time on verification.

EBay are being negligent. They are neglecting to send micro deposits before they stop you receiving the proceeds of sale that belong to you. They are doing this so that they can earn interest on our money. There can be no other reason. We all know that bank transfers can be made instantly. We all need to complain to the financial ombudsman by email using as the subject, "eBay negligence". I have been selling on eBay both as a business and private seller since 2001. I have never been treated this badly by them. I feel sorry for their call handlers who have to put forward pathetic excuses for their bosses.

Just to update those who have looked at this. I did eventually get my
funds, but it took way longer than it should have. The 1p
deposit/withdrawal they make is part of their process of verifying your
bank account but it seems like a very old fashioned way of doing things
having worked in banking for years. Support will tell you different things
but you will get your money... Just prepare to wait a week or two!

Thank you for posting this question - I'm going through exactly this same process at the moment and it's infuriating - hopefully they will eventually pay out as I've already spent part of the payout on eBay but definitely aren't going to use it for anything else. Like you, it said a couple of days and now it says a week and its already been a week - albeit with a bank holiday - but only had a micro-deposit paid in (after 3 days) and not one taken out - an absolute scam or sham not sure. Puts me off selling on eBay after a long time as a private seller...

All one should have to do is confirm the level of the last two withdrawals
one has made onto that account and a screen shot of those transactions. The
way eBay are doing this feels like a scam to me and to many others also.

PLase help as I can find no way to do this following the instructions you have posted - nowhere does it tell me I have to verify the micro deposit and in any case the banner you mention just says it takes a week - nothing and no option on how or about verifying anything with EBay???

It is a scam for them to earn interest on our money. In 24 years of selling
on eBay I have never been put through anything like this. I wonder how many
millions of billions they are getting interest on while they play this game
with loyal customers!

When I go to my eBay bskance there is a great big red sign saying that my
payments are stopped because they need more information from me to verify
my bank account. The information they want, is the amount of two micro
deposits they say have been sent to my account. Trouble is, these micro
deposits never turn up.
