Extremely low sales?

Hi, are anyone else’s sales at rock bottom? Mine were fairly slow over the summer as expected but haven’t improved at all. Gone from 7/8 sales a day to literally one this week? Thanks

Ebay Customer Services told me that low sales may be due to the wrong time of year for selling! (Q4, Christmas, etc etc lol)

At a glance your Shop, fabric art, Feedback and prices all look good. A couple things might help increase sales:

One thing that stands out is that you had a huge 4-month break from listing new items. Only eBay knows how the algorithm works, but it seems to reward Sellers who list consistently. So instead of a 4-month break and then a flurry of new Items, it would be better to list one or two new items each week.

eBay now give 24 photos per listing and sometimes you are using only one. Buyers scan and swipe so quickly that more photos give them a better chance to stop and consider buying.

Also I don't think the floor does your work justice (no matter how nice the floor). Your designer fabrics deserve a cleaner-looking background, and white would help people discern the fabric colours better.

Maybe while things are slow, it's a good time to end a few things each day, add new photos, and then relist? This way you can test the consistency theory for yourself. Good luck with your work going into Q4 😉

Yep same here, normally sell 30-40 items a day and have been for years and years, lucky to get 1 a day now absolutely dreadful

This week has been extremely slow. Hence why I am on this thread.

my sales have had a noticeable drop since midweek. I have found a couple of issues where my advert setting had been changed by eBay and that has caused me to lose £300 per day sales. Currently got eBay looking into it but it does feel like a sinking ship atm

Morning

Our sales just dropped when 2 days ago system was all day when checked Ebay was down in the down detector. I usually selling 100-150 brutto per day but from 2 days ago only £50 brutto what is very low. I do not when will be okay again :((

Only still issue when I put something ended and want sell simillar and goes where is unsold item not shows straight the unsold item need refesh the page few times. This is already doing almost 1 week :(((((((

Same here: My sales in the past week or so have dropped significantly! Worst this year actually, very suspicious!

Yes sales are terrible at the moment. Since about mid October I would expect to much busier this time of year and I usually am. I don't know what's going on.

That's exactly the same for us, mid October took a massive downturn and has not really changed.. this time of year i am normally doing 14-16 hour days, currently lucky to be doing an hour a day at the moment

Yes my sales are well down for this time of year and by reading other sellers' comments we are not the only ones. I've just signed up to feature some listings, I've kept it minimal at the moment as obviously that costs more money and will reduce my margin but hey I'll give anything a go!

I just had a look at your shop, you have some lovely items and reasonably priced too, I just don't understand it. I wonder if ebay have made any changes that might be affecting us?

Some really useful tips here thanks 🙂 I'm going to try these. I have noticed in the past when I've played around with listings and then re-listed, the items seem to sell, might be a coincidence but it's worth testing it out.

Sales here are the worst they've ever been, but OK-ish, of interest is that my website sales are significantly lower than the last 2 years and we are very much a 'early xmas rush' type of business. Away from here we are in a rather unique category without tangible competitors (average sale price £400) where organic hits have always delivered the bacon, this might need to change but there is complete consistency in our marketing to date, so any website or promo changes our end isn't the reason for the slowdown.

Same with me, been really struggling, listed loads of new stuff, added key words, cleaned up photos, sold similar to old listings. I need £200 a day to be worth it, not seen that once over a week since around October. Have been doing this over 10 years and not known a time like this. Going to have to stop putting my own money into this if it does not break soon. Sad times, but I think the platform is not attracting customers so much.

My fees are a lot higher too, from around 16-17 % to around 30.

I don't think this is a seller problem.

I have to sell elsewhere, I'm a private seller and started selling online back in 2003, I have no overheads or a quota I need to fill but we all want sales.

I sell the same items for roughly the same prices and I have to go back here to end listings.

I know what my items are worth and actually keep prices lower than say Etsy and other platforms, I list somewhat every day, I have nice pictures and quality items that you can't find in this country, still, it's painfully slow.

I think it would probably help buying their higher visibility scam but I really don't want to.

A friend told me he asked AI for help to create better titles and that Improved traffic but I'm not sure how well his sales did after that.

You have some truly stunning items for sale, but one observation I can make, is with some of your titles, they may well 'hide' that item, or at least have it way, way low down on the listing page.

eBay state that the first 4 words in a title are the most important, these are the ones buyers will enter to search for an item.

If I can take 2 of your items as an example.... ' Extremely rare vintage teapot ..... ' then you add the maker of that teapot, which should really be the first word, no one will enter extremely rare.... into search to look for an item. That should / can be added in the main description box.

Another is ... ' A Very Elegant Gold Tone Metal Belt', again a waste of those first few important words.

It also doesn't help when a buyer can scroll down your listing then see eBay's ' helpful' alternatives some which may not be identical as this is a vintage market with many ' one offs', but they do offer cheaper similar alternatives, in my humble opinion , this cannot help a seller!

See if changing some of you main titles may bring those nearer the top of a listing, and bring about those elusive buyers!

As a bit of an update on this. I spoke to ebay about my lack of visibilty and extreme low sales. The agent seemed to be aware of it as she said that she would put my lack of visiblity straight away to the tech team and they would get back to me in 24 hrs.

I have heard this sort of response before, and was not really expecting the call, which as per, did not happen.

But....... there has been a major uptick in traffic since, this is a steady stream up, currently 75% in 2 weeks, not to the usual hits, but getting there.

I have noticed a slight difference on my listings too. There was a recent change so that both unsold listings and ended listings which are the same, were shown as inactive listings.

Since this miracle of visiblity occured, these listings have gone back to ended/unsold. not sure if there is a link, but will put this out there and see what others have found.
