Could kind of see the benefit if this is the way the world is going and couriers would find it preferable to deliver to collection lockers for a lower price.

Right now though, feel like its only beneficial for those selling second hand on vinted etc.

Also don't think there would be the capacity if access was opened up to every business seller do allow delivery to lockers.

Hi,

I am posting on my private account, but am asking about my business account. I'm pretty new to selling on there, so I apologise if this is a stupid question. I have tried to look into it.

I am struggling to know how to price my postage. If I go to the Evri website, it gives me a price for home delivery (£6.49), and delivery to a pickup shop (£2.62). The listing page will only allow me to add the one price. I want to give the customer the option for click & collect, but would have to charge them the higher price, in case they have it sent to their home.

It's not just Evri. I can't work it out for any postal service.

The item does meet the click & collect requirements.

Thanks in advance for any help.

On business accounts - I don't think there is any way of differentiating.

A cheaper postage cost for delivery to a collection point is currently only viable via Simple Delivery on a Private Account as far as I know.

You can't separate out those services as they are simply not available to you on the postage policies.
So the simple answer is that no, you can't do that.

However, there are plenty of other options that you can use.
The customer by default has the option of delivery to a shop anyway, so there is no real need to separate that out (Click and collect). This is via whichever courier/service you use. It's simply a change of address.

I would advise however that you look into postage services. It's well worth getting a business account with RM, or other courier, but does depend on the quantities you are sending.
With RM, you only need to be sending 20 parcels per week, for free collections and averaged price for tracked services.

When setting your postage price you may want to consider adding on around 16% to cover the eBay final value fee that charge even on the postage plus a little for packaging costs incurred !

Well that wasn't exactly the comment to be fair. Simple delivery is far more than just lockers.

But I'm using the lockers regularly as a business and though capacity is at it's limits on a regular basis, the network is still growing. So I don't think that it's out of the picture to use lockers.
In fact I think that many would prefer it, as it's just so easy and saves waiting for something to be delivered to you.

If/when its introduced for businesses it will have to be an optional choice but if they had more couriers/options then I cant see many downsides tbh. Its currently cheaper for me to send with Royal Mail via eBay than it is to purchase on my business account. Its also cheaper for buyers to buy from a private account if the item is going to authentication than it is for me and eBay set those prices.

I dont see many downsides tbh.

To judge from complaints here in the discussion boards, BBC's Panorama "Evri: Where’s My Parcel?" 15.12.25 etc, more and more buyers actively avoid buying where they can read or intuit Evri as the courier.

If you prefer Evri, maybe think about offering two options alongside each other? - one faster than the other so buyers can upgrade re speed? At the least, buyer can see the higher cost, go "OMG!" and realise the lower cost isn't something they should complain about.

Yes level of postage cost is a factor but it's not necessarily the top priority - as you know, good customer service matter a lot, such as prompt despatch and good packaging.

I wasn't suggesting that delivery to lockers be introduced, just that it wasn't that bad a thing and that the network is growing.

If however it's cheaper for you to send using Ebay, rather than a RM account, you are not sending enough parcels to be worth while.
Don't forget though, that the price you get for tracked on the account, is based on average weights. So it costs the same to send a 1kg parcel as it does a 10kg. So even the price appears to be higher, it isn't necessarily as it depends on what you send.

As to authentication, it really doesn't matter whether it's cheaper to use as a private individual against a business, if you are business, then you use the correct service.

Thats why I mentioned its probably cheaper for a small business to be just using ebay shipping, I send around 40 a week with Royal Mail and its cheaper with ebay. All my parcels are under 2kg and small parcel so averaging them out doesnt change anything sadly.

As for AGS eBay give you the label be it private or business, how they can charge more for business is a bit of a urinal extraction tbh.

Like I said I cant see many negatives to SD for businesses, unless you are a high volume business (most arent) it'll be cheaper and easier when/if its brought in. You seem to be one of those high volume ones so I suspect they wouldnt force you as thats business suicide but for most I suspect eBay group.

No, they can't make business use SD, it doesn't make sense at all.
It would cause far more issues than not using it. And would probably drive away a lot of business.

it's fine, if all you are sending is a small parcel on the odd occasion.

But you certainly can't send a fridge by it! 🙂
There are many items that simply don't fit into the one size fits all of SD.
Never mind the fact that you would have to go from having your parcels collected each day, to dropping them off wherever you need to. And if it's decided that you need two or three different couriers for those parcels, you have a real problem.

Yet, I am still paying an averaged price for tracked!

You are talking about something different.

ie. them averaging the weights overall and charging. As per the old method.

When you are quoted a price for tracked services, they give you a price based upon your average weight sent. ie. I pay exactly the same price for a parcel weighing 500g as I do for one weighing 10kg, as I said earlier.

I never said they'd make businesses use it, i said the opposite and that they wouldnt force you to use it. It'll be an opt in as for many businesses it will be easier.

The collection issue will be able to be ironed out pretty easily tbh, just have an option to sign up for collections via eBay and your business details are sent to Royal Mail like they do if you have a click and collect account.

Items like a fridge will be rare for a small business seller to be sending on a constant basis though and again I said theyd have to offer more services, again some might fall outside of this and thats why theyd have the opt out but if/when they bring it in for businesses i suspect they will have a wider ranger of options than currently on offer for private sellers.
