I post my parcels in large grey sacks and drop them off at the Royal mail sorting office, Monday to Friday.

When items are delivered past the 3 day delivery estimate, ebay is supposed to consider the date it was scanned occuring within the dispatch time. Right? except most of my post is not scanned on site. It is scanned on route.

I've had customers open item not received cases before which get closed by ebay because the item's eventually get delivered. However the message I get from the ebay india staff will include a caution that i had posted it late...all because the guys think 'item received' in the tracking, means it's the date i posted it.

i have tried to talk to 2 ebay agents about this...they told me to appeal it...and as expectd my appeal was rejected.

ive been using the same postage method for 3 yrs. Normally, my seller level remains Top Rated and most of the defects get removed on their own. I've always assumed ebay's side understands that the service I use ie Royal mail 2nd class post, or Tracked 48, the 3 days thing is obviously just an estimate and not a guarantee. However it's seriously bugging me that they are actually are this dim at ebay that they see 'item received' in the tracking and think that's the date it was literally posted. That's just the time/date it was scanned ON ROUTE.

How can i have this matter escilated? who can i talk to? are there any actual mods? also please dont just close this discussion. I'm sure other sellers are experiencing the same headache.

my appeal was rejected because the agent dealing with it, didnt understand the context above. just saw the date the tracking shows it was 'received' and treated it like the actual posting date, then rejected my appeal.

Yes, we just lost our top rated seller status - first time in 8 years. Something must have changed of the eBay/Royal mail API receipt. RM48 tracked - in sac/on site collection each day by royal mail, standard protocol at RM is your scan on route, sometimes delayed and hits 3 days later.

We loose on time dispatch protection even though we have collectionevery day (Mon-Fri), and if delivered on day 3, we get late dispatch DSR.

Called RM, they say eBay should not accept RM48 tracked first scan as the dispatch date on business collection accounts.

Called eBay CS 6 times, they do not accept, reject appeals.

There has to be 1000's of other UK businesses that have on site daily sac collections that are in the same boat, surely?

Yes, I am also effected by RM daily collections when the first scan is applied sometimes after midnight and I get a late despatch defect.

I have now resorted to not uploading tracking but put the numbers in as a personal note.

I scroll down all orders after the days post and check past tracking to see if royal mail scanned it, if they didnt I leave it for up to a week.
I change the note to either "RM Late - ###", "EBW - ###", "No T - ###" at a glance I can see whats been scanned, if it was late or if ebay estimated times are wrong but delivered on time.

If they did and it is delivered before/on the last estimated date, I add tracking to prevent INR and delete note.

Seems like a lot of extra work but protects me from ebays wrong delivery dates, so far,

When I did get an INR too quickly, after checking, if delivered I just upload tracking to case and bite the bullet for late delivery as tracking was uploaded after case was opened or resolve as required.

can someone tag ebay mods or anyone at ebay who can look into this matter? im not bothered about losing TRS itself, but the way it's being done is nonsensical.

So just as an example, I took a bunch of Tracked post to the sorting office today, laid it out on the front desk and asked the worker to scan them. An hour later I check and they haven't been scanned.

The place was busy so I couldnt stand there waiting to watch her do it. She's also someone who has in the past just given me a RM sack and said 'here, put them in there' and concerning the tracking 'they'll get scanned later'.

If royal mail are refusing to scan stuff until later into the process aswell as delivering this stuff past the 3 day estimated delivery, clearly there's nothing else i can do.

I escalated this through an ebay agent and the response was absolutely naff. it was awful. Telling me to submit appeals per each one. when i did this with one, it was denied and the context was ignored.

This is a joke.

That's Royal Mail for you. Absolutely useless. I used to give them £25k a year and they had all my parcels over 2 shops. Now they get about £2k, they are left with the letters and 2nd class LL only. EVRI get most of the rest. If I'm sending Special Delivery I use E-bay direct postage, it is cheaper than with RM direct through their click and drop. Madness! Don't get me started on their 'Missing item claims'. (Computer says no!). My honest advice? Send anything you can with a different courier, any of them. They are all better than RM.

Yes this is happening to me as well and only since about June this year. Since then I have had 5 late deliveries marked against me with late dispatch marked. All the items were dispatched on time by Royal Mail Tracked 48. I use Drop and Go so I drop my items at my Post Office daily, they scan and I receive the tracking automatically and then upload to Ebay. It seems to me that ebay are ignoring the first scan at the post office but using a scan taken sometimes a day or two later at a delivery office where the scan states

"Item Received" as the date I have dispatched. It makes no sense as the first scan is clearly shown on the tracking trail. I have tried appealing but its like talking to a brick wall . Also expected delivery dates are completely ridiculous as Royal Mail do not Guarantee delivery times only an estimate . I also am about to lose TRS status and will also no longer be uploading tracking to ebay but sending a message to my customers with tracking details.

Having the exact same issue, rm are not scanning for 1-3 days or most of the time on day of delivery so our metrics are constantly over 3% now. I have called support many times and they agree and remove the most they can (5) and said I should call again to get some removed. First time ever it's looking like many lose top rated seller and there doesn't sound like any fix apart from removing tracking from click and drop which would cause major headaches

I've had this happen for the last four months, so I no longer add tracking info to my sales.

I believe that Royal Mail aren't tracking on collection as it would show that their delivery rates are even lower than they have been reporting.

To top it all I have now received a negative due to a damaged package and I only use Royal Mail, so it must have happened en route.

How could this possibly happen, Ebay are PARTNERS with Royal Mail, PARTNERS wrk together and have a good understanding of each others work practices.

Ebay aint a partner with anyone, its an ilusion..............

I don't have my stuff collected, I take all parcels to the Post Office counter and get them to scan them in (to avoid this perennial problem), but I have noticed a change in scanning procedure later in the process.

The 48 parcels aren't getting scanned by my sorting office at all on the day of collection. They're held unscanned overnight, and scanned the following afternoon. The 24 parcels are generally scanned on the day of collection, but only if they're going somewhere. If they're not leaving the sorting office, they are scanned as "received" on the following day.

I THINK this is probably because the RM targets depend on the day the item is scanned into the sorting office, not the day it's received by the sorting office. So (in order to avoid fines and local punishments), my sorting office just won't process the parcels till after midnight if their trunking vehicles are full. That way, their internal systems give them an extra day's grace on delivery, and halves the number of 48s being delivered late.

Maybe it's just Bristol sorting office doing this, but somehow I doubt it.

Interesting, I was trying to work out why increasingly the Tracked 48 parcels I send through a Parcel Postbox only receive their first 'item received' scan 2 days after I'd deposited them. It used to be the case that most would be scanned the day after collection, maybe 24 hours after, but would usually then get delivered the day after that to meet the 2 day window. Over the last few weeks though, many of my Tracked 48 are not getting their first scan until some 36-48 hours after they would have been collected, and then taking another 24-48 hours to deliver. Meaning Tracked 48 is now essentially a 3-4 day service from posting time. I've also begun getting the tracking message "item retention", which sounds like they're being deliberately delayed in the system. At a time when everything else about selling on here seems to be going to pot and trust in couriers is crashing, this new reduction in RM service quality doesn't help.

I know they're starting to train the seasonal staff as well, which doesn't help, but the service really is bad.

I sent item recently which RM marked as "nobody at home" on two separate days. It was a large letter item, and the buyer has a letterbox, and a parcel bin outside. No note was left: I don't expect it left the delivery office, just got scanned as "undelivered". It was then returned to me, and "delivered" to a house half a mile away from mine - and the householder there kindly brought it round in person. Which is a 100% failure rate on 3 delivery attempts. This sort of thing used to be rare, but is unfortunately becoming more common.

I noticed a new late delivery defect yesterday with that same message "posted after dispatch date". However I am not sure how to read the late delivery report page as it does show "postal courier indicated late delivery" with "posted after dispatch date" underneath in lighter colour font like kind of greyed out??

It was a RM large letter postage which I purchased the postage through eBay on the same day as the sale but good old RM took two weeks to deliver. I did think about appealing but will see if it automatically gets removed.
