Sold an item for more

I sold and item for more than the insurance rate on simple delivery of £750. I wasn’t expecting it to go beyond this amount, but it did. The buyer has obviously paid the amount that was on which was a simple delivery charge of £2.75. I now want to send this special delivery as it insures up to £2500. EBay want me to print off the £2,75 label and use that. How can I get the special delivery and make sure the tracking is updated to the right number?

Auction items that start below £750 but end over are still eligible for Simple Delivery protections. It would be better to use the SD label to avail yourself of these.

I read it only insured up to £750, but item sold for £1650. I’d rather the special delivery to make sure. Or where does it say that I will still be insured for the full amount if it was an auction?

Under 'How is my item protected' on the Simple Delivery help page in Seller Centre it states that there is no cover limit for eligible items:

'There’s no cover limit for eligible items with Simple Delivery. They’re fully protected for the amount they were sold for on eBay providing you post the item using the prepaid Simple Delivery label provided, comply with the eBay delivery Terms and Conditions, and properly package the item.'

To be eligible for Simple Delivery an auction start price (not end price) of £750 or less is required:

'Which listings are eligible for Simple Delivery?

'Simple Delivery is currently available to private sellers in the UK selling:

Items in eligible categories that have a 'Buy it Now' price or auction starting price of £750 or less
A weight of up to 30kg
Dimensions should not exceed 120 cm x 80 cm x 80 cm'

I thought silver coins were on the simple delivery excluded list.

Yes, both silver and currency (including bullion) are on the list of items prohibited from being sent with Simple Delivery. However, eBay has also stated that if an item is accepted for Simple Delivery when listed then it will still be covered.

If RM cover an item up to £2,500 by SD and it goes missing will they reimburse you for the sold price or what you paid for it ?.

Can you prove what you paid for it by way of receipt ?.

Only asking because iv'e seen posts about RM only refunding by way of a book of stamps.

For non-account customers the compensation for Special Delivery items lost/damaged is the lower of the market value or £750/the value of enhanced compensation purchased.

For account customers it is the lower of the cost price of the item or the compensation purchased.
