You are not alone! Many Buyers will not use them. 99% of the time our local EVRI delivery drivers are great, so I don't mind as long as it gets here.

Well Evri is the final nail. I mean who would EVER choose or trust Evri (rebadged from Hermes who were the previous worst)

To be honest I have now lost all confidence in buying from eBay as I know that it will be likely that my item will be late, damaged, or mysteriously disappear in the Evri depot.
As for selling, I use my iPhone. The UI is now so dreadfully cluttered that it’s become quite unbearable, and I really believe eBay have finally lost it.
I’ve been a member since 2005 and I’ve seen this manic decline that not even free listing can save. The listings are more like Temu ads selling cheap and nasty Chinese junk that will be lucky to survive a journey round the Evri warehouse!
The only saving grace is the quality of the customer service, thats assuming you can find the right section without spending hours navigating the automated chat bot round-a-bout.

I agree, I've been using ebay to buy vintage glass since 2012 and selling from a year or two later. Having had several items I've bought, delivered by evri arrive broken, I don't buy from sellers who use everi.

Simple Delivery does allow sellers to specify RM as the only delivery option, BUT ebay reserves the right to over-rule the sellers choice of options and completely dis-regards the buyer's preference that they bought from that particular seller on the strength of the "RM Only" shown on the advert.

While ebay maintains that it has the final decision about who will deliver a seller's items I can't see myself buying much on ebay.

I used to rely on sellers 100%, with my 1K+ smooth transactions testament to how good the majority of sellers are on eBay. [I've not had to return any items except where the incorrect item was sent = good sellers. I doubt I'm unusual buyer. I've had only 6 INRs, three where sellers failed to ship and were silent on refunds; one where seller failed to ship AND actually said they wouldn't refund.] It's why I think Simple Delivery should be optional - let sellers control their sales. Some of those deliveries were Evri. But lately I've noticed:

1. Evri eBay deliveries are definitely variable.

I'm still annoyed about the driver who 3 weeks ago spent LONGER delivering than necessary, by going into the back garden, hunting around (didn't even leave the parcel at the back door), and leaving the parcel wedged into the top of the coal bunker so the lid coulldn't close; by the time we found it rain had got in and soaked the parcel, unpleasant to unbox; I had to dry out one end of the item. We were in (lights on, tv on, car on the drive) and had left the (front) porch unlocked for the expected delivery, and it's listed as our 'safe place' i.e. porch or knocking would've been QUICKER. [Sorry, maybe telling it will get it off my chest!]

2. Evri non-eBay deliveries for other websites have been fine - that's 100% success rate (so far) on over 60 deliveries to me over 10 months.

This tells me eBay is probably letting Evri get away with poor delivery/service!

An Evri regular customer is one of the country's largest leading crafting manufacturers; they probably send out hundreds of orders per day, thousands when they launch new ranges - I doubt they'd stand for it if Evri regularly annoyed recipients by messing up.

Recently I decided not to buy a couple of eBay items that stated Evri, with options being Evri standard and Evri express ["Next Day"?]. But it's good the seller openly stated Evri.

It's added one extra thing I now feel I need to look at in detail when reading a listing - there's already a lot that needs to be read 🙂

So yes, it may well not be the last time I decide whether to buy based on the courier being Evri.
