topic Royal Mail Online Claim Form in Postage

I have just spent ages attempting to claim for an item damaged in the post. The Royal Mail online claim form kept rejecting my entries due to "special characters". I wasn't using any special characters and removed commas, full stops etc and it still wouldn't accept my recipients address. It would also only accept one image for each category. I wanted to upload three images of the damage and it wouldn't let me. In the end I found an old image of the P58 claim form and filled it out by hand. Is it just me or does anyone else have a problem claiming online?

I'm the seller of the item. It was sent by Tracking 48 and custom postage. The buyer has sent me photos of the damaged item (a book) , and once she files a claim through eBay I will be refunding her.

Yep, good innit, im dyslexic and section of the claim form doesnt support cut and paste, the claim form puts me at a disadvantage becasue of my disabilty, I have complained but nothing ever happens, they just want to build into your claim an excuse not to pay or for you to just give up.

I had damaged item by them too. Royal Mail will make you run around in circles till you give up, it's be design in my opinion.

Also you need to submit the buyer's email which as far as I'm aware the message system won't allow for personal information like that between users.

On top of it all, it will take them 13 weeks to issue any compensation at their discretion.

To give you an idea how bad they are, I submitted a claim for late delivery (4 days late on a 24hs 'guaranteed' delivery) over 3 weeks ago and still waiting.

Yes it is by design, yes they want you to give up and even if they do pay they pay by cheque which is even more agro in the hope you dont pay it in to your bank.

As I wasn't able to use the online claim form, I managed to find a copy of the old P58 form dated 2006, and filled it out, in my best handwriting, and sent it, together with various proofs of postage value and damage, to their freepost address in Plymouth. I do have a proof of postage (!), so I'll wait patiently and see what happens.

Sounds about right, all done to put you off making a claim.

All you can do is keep plugging away and trying, even if your claim gets accepted they never pay the full amount and what they do pay can take up to 90 days to be paid out.

I buy RM postage on the RM site, I pay with paypal, I keep the Braintree reference number then if it gets too bad I do a paypal chargeback.
