Postage Label not generating error - It was not possible to generate the label. Something is wrong.

When I click the "Get Postage Label" to generate a label or QR code the below red box error shows;

"It was not possible to generate the label. Something is wrong. Please try again later."

This is happening on each of the 3 items I have sold and it happened last week - both instances have been raised to ebay support but no update has ever been provided. It took nearly an hour each time to explain

I have used this service for many years and never had an issue generating a postage label

Is this still happening to you? There was a similar issue not too long ago preventing sellers from getting shipping labels, so, if this is still happening to you, could you please confirm, so I can escalate this for you to see what's happening?

Yes, this is still happening, I tried again this morning and the same error message appears.

I have tried via the ebay app, different browsers, android tablet, Ipad and all the same (caches etc all been cleared)

I have searched on here too but failed to find anything confirming the issue

I have raised 2 cases via ebay chat the first one was around 10 days ago and as yet I have not had any response or update

Its not ideal having to write labels and then manually send them via the post office, who charge a higher price to the ebay labels, so I am losing out money.

I know recent changes have been applied and its no coincidence this falls in line with it as I have not had any issues with labels previously. I have to manually load in the tracking details now so will take longer to receive my funds now.

Appreciate you reaching out Marco - please do urgently advise a fix here

If you can't print labels through the eBay labels, then do them through the RM website. Yes, you still have to input the details but you still get the code at the end, and it's the same price as eBay labels.

How do you do this? When I checked, the method I selected is asking for an email address and mobile number for the recipient which I would never know... Unless I am missing something here, I cannot proceed this way as it stands...

The issue is still there, it has appeared again today on the desktop and mobile app. I have not had one update to what the issue is or anything... very very frustrating

This all links back to the recent changes that ebay has made at the beginning of February. No one replies to you via the chat option, they just log a case and say someone will be in touch to resolve the issue

I have been generating postage labels without any issues previously.

marco - any update at all? this cannot go on... very frustrating that not one person from ebay uk can provide me with any update or encouragement that this issue is being dealt with and when this will be fixed...

There is obviously an issue... is there not anyone at Ebay Uk that I can actually have a direct conversation with and troubleshoot with the relevant department directly - I have not had any success via agent chat or via the community page. Its very very frustrating.

is there any update here? the service is pretty awful that as to do date I have not had anyone reach out to resolve this... and seems others have now flagged the same issue... what do I need to do here to get this resolved ASAP?

Only option is to cancel all of the orders and try and pursuade customer to purchase again. Thats ebays policy on it.

If it is just a problem with a single order, it can be caused by a line in the address being too long, and can be fixed by editing the address.

Obviously if it's a problem on multiple orders it's something else causing it.

Unsure whether this is Ebay's policy or not, either way, it doesn't work still and no one should have to do this either - just defeats the object of a seamless process. The issue only started since Ebay changed the way you post items out that came in at the beginning of February. Also I am yet to have confirmation from ebay on what the issue is...

I had the same issue. After hours on phone with ebay thats what they told me. Theres nothing they can do and I have to message buyer, explain, relist, and try and get them to purchase it again. Of all 3, none of the buyers purchased again. Bearing in mind they dont even get refunded straight away, it still takes 3-5 days for the money to go back into their account. If someones just paid you for an item, and then you cancel it and ask them to purchase again, when they havent even got their money back, what do you expect will happen?

Ebay is a platform being eaten alive internally. Everything is broken and I have a brand new Samsung phone. Its like termites ate half the code. I currently cant list anything at all, because it wants me to pick a "business policy" for delivery and terms. If I click to select one, it says I have no policies. I have never set up a business policy. Yet it wont let me list without one. I am not even a business. The entire thing is a nonsensical farce

as suggested you can buy postage direct via Royal Mail click and drop

but if this is going to be an ongoing problem or you’re having lots of sales , to save you having to input all the details into Royal Mail

You can use parcel2go

set up account then

link your eBay account to them (I think it’s under the menu smart send) and it will pull up your outstanding orders that need shipping

they do Royal Mail 48 same price as online 3.39 and a bunch of other couriers

having said that, if the reason for the eBay error is that the address is faulty then be careful
