Refund a buyer after cancelling

I had originally sold something on eBay and gained £419 in my eBay balance.

I made a new listing for an item I was selling. Someone bought it. I then had to cancel the order that same day. And when I went to cancel and refund the buyer it took the purchase cost from my eBay balance instead of eBay paying it because I never got the money they paid for. And now I’m stuck.

In my eBay balance it says I have the money they paid for in pending funds so will that mean I’ll get my money back or no because according to chat gpt it says no.

Surely I will get my money back no?

eBay takes refunds from seller's balance or funding source but you get to keep the actual payment when it clears.
