Flood Insurance

Hi there

A house I part own has recently flooded and I have been quoted £2400 per annum with a £5000 excess.for house insurance

I know this is a lot of money but does anyone know if it is actually a reasonable quote given the risks ?? Or just an insurance company jumping on the bandwagon ??

I might add that the Environmental Agency have fitted flood gates and the garden now has full flood defences down the side - but no-one seems interested in this.

Also - its the only quote I have been able to get - everyone (inc Ins brokers) are saying no way !!

Is this the one where the council caused the flooding in the first place?

They ought to be paying through the nose for it, including paying for your flood insurance (for ever!) 😐

Yes it is but at the moment thats secondary .. there is the hope of selling the house so insurance is paramount
