Shallow fried rainbow trout - not bad, either. Only £2.40 from Sainsburys and you know exactly what you're cooking. Can have tartare sauce with it, but good enough to eat on it's own. It's a very sweet tasting fish. Whiting on the other hand tends to have a muddy flavour. Might try a little bit of broccoli with it. I have to get them to head and tail it though otherwise my daughter goes all silly when she sees it in the pan (roll eyes).

We always get stuff out the night before, bread, milk, meat. So we have chicken defrosted and I'll marinate it in a mushroom sauce and do potatoes and veg.

Have you tried doing your trout between two plates in the microwave Fred? I always cook it like that, salmon too. Only takes 90 to 120 seconds for salmon and about 4 minutes for a trout. So simple and delicious. (I get him to cut the heads off before I'll touch them. I'm ok cutting off the tail, fins and gills)

Porrige with banana & honey is lovely. If my salmon is still a bit frozen & just wrap it in foil with a slice of lemon on top & bake it for about 10 minutes.:) It's lovely & moist done like that. I hate it overcooked. I like trout grilled with almonds on. Not had that for years.
