Treason!

The law of treason is still in force, so why don't we use it?

This law says that People have a duty to be loyal to the Country that confers Citizenship, upon them, and in return for this loyalty the State will protect and support them.

Well the UK certainly does that with generous State handouts.

Drummer Lee Rigby's killers regard what they did as an act of Holy war.

They are actually however, waging a war on their own People, as well as Britain, an act which is so obviously treason. One of the alleged killers was born British, the other is a naturalised Briton.

By the very nature of their shocking crime, and urging people to go against the democratically elected Government of their Country, they should, and must, face charges of Murder, and Treason.

This was no ordinary murder, oh no, it was the murder of a man who was targeted solely because he was a member of our armed forces, a soldier doing his duty, and serving his Country.

I take it you mean the death penalty?

Murder or treason, it would still be a life sentence

Jack Straw, repealed 'Death sentences' for these crimes, and in any case they were ruled out, by us signing the European human rights act

No Al... not necessarily the Death sentence.

But, whatever the Law of our country decrees, and deems justifiable.

why the cops only wounded these murderers is beyond me, they should have used lethal force on the two attackers. this would have saved the country a packet in legal proceedings. I just wonder if a charge of treason would be brought if they had attacked a royal in the same way?

That one is simple.

The armed police in this country are trained to hit the body, the intent is to stop not kill.

The only near guaranteed kill shot is a head shot - which is a harder target.

That said, a body shot often kills, or causes serious injury due to the fact that there are so many important organs that can be hit.

They wanted them alive to stand trial..if dead they would become heroes and then the riots would start..Alive they can do 50 years in Jail..

It is NOT police policy to shoot in the legs, as was done here, you aim for the biggest body mass ie the chest, this is also why they shoot numerous times, one shot in the chest might not put you down.

Only a few years ago a drunk was shot and killed for having a chair leg

As I understand it you can't commit high treason against the government, only the Crown. The punishment today for treason is treated like murder, so they would each get a life sentence.

Their plan to become martyrs rather backfired when the police did not kill them...

In Law, treason is the crime that covers some of the more extreme acts against one's Sovereign or Nation. Historically, treason also covered the murder of specific social superiors, such as the murder of a husband by his wife or that of a master by his servant or slave. Treason against the Crown was known as High Treason and treason against a lesser superior was petty treason.

So it is the case that you cannot commit high treason against the Government MSP, but you can commit treason. In these cases, and only in these cases, I regard the Nation, and the Government as one and the same.

hi #6, I would never wish harm on any royal or member of the public so my question was a general open question to would it have been treason if they had attacked a royal. for me murder is murder no matter who is attacked, that's why I cannot understand a reason to place murder into levels of treason, petty treason or 1st degree murder, and likewise making police murderers above that of a member of the public murder.....................I do hope this is understandable.

It would have been treason if they had attempted to or murdered the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh or Prince Charles.

The name of the crime is irrelevant though because the statutory sentence is the same for both high treason and murder - life imprisonment.
