Just had a grocery delivery from a well known supermarket

I saw the van arrive on the CCTV, he rang my intercom, then told me he has a lift phobia and can he put it in the lift and send it up.

No problem says I, I do like to respect others' phobias. I am on the 9th floor and couldn't expect him to come up the stairs.

I waited by the lift and was surprised to see someone with my shopping.

It was a chap who lives in the same block who also works for the same supermarket, and he brought it to me.

He told me that the supermarket know the chap has a lift phobia, and today nearly all his deliveries were to upper floors with a lift.

Seems to me, an odd job for someone with such a phobia.

Aww that is difficult.

My first thought are...

Did he realise before taking the job that he had a serious lift phobia? Maybe he thought he could overcome it.

Maybe he has struggled for a while to get any job.

Employers nowadays have to be very careful not to discriminate.

I didn't really question it.

It was no problem for me as the lift is virtually right outside my flat door

Could be difficult in some blocks where there is a route march from lift to flat door, some with double fire doors in between.

Some couriers will only bring goods to the front door of the block, something to do with insurance, they say.

I dont have a problem with that, as long as I know in advance.
