anyways, as the title says....

this ere GSP stuff.

I understand how it works, blah blah blah,

but how does it work on something I sold with free UK postage.

The buyer has paid, but how does ebay know how much to charge the buyer ??

its Global Shipping Program for Johnnie Foreigners - you have to opt into it.

If you sell something, and say, UK postage £3.00. Johnnie foreigner can bid and they can see how much extra shipping would cost them through the GSP based on yer £3.00 shipping. if they win, ebay then add their charges on to the invoice.

once they pay, you send yer item to a UK distribution centre with a unique ref number from ebay, and ebay sorts out all customs etc and sends it on to foreign parts, while keeping you informed at various stages of shipping.........(though it does take ages for them to arrive at final destination)

But , I sold an item with free UK postage, and I was wondering how ebay calculated the GSP shipping costs.

If your domestic postage was set to zero then eBay will automatically recognise zero and just send you the buy price.

From what you say ronnie, you are sending the item to a a UK distribution point and ebay is sending it on to foreign parts.

You are only paying UK postage, but surely how ebay works out the foreign postage is their problem.

Once it is received at UK distribution point, it is probably weighed and stamped according to where it is going, and the buyer is billed for that amount.

You have already had your share, so no problem.

yes, I realise it's ebays problem, but as I was aware, the buyer needs to pay for everything (incl inernational shipping) before ebay allocate a unique ref number and tell me its ok to post.

I was just being curious.
