I imagine this could be a possibility. Many people these days have visited places far and wide, looking for that something different. So maybe many would jump at the opportunity to go to visit the Moon. I am quite happy to stay on Earths ground though. I am adventurous, but not so much to travel that far.

That's exactly what I was thinking. What the hell would anyone find to do up there? It's a long way to go just to experience low gravity, I'd rather spend £8000 on a decent cruise.

You can put me down!

Although I imagine in my lifetime the physical requirements of such a journey are beyond most people.

No doubt children born today will see the Moon as a holiday destination in the same way those born before the jet engine viewed the US or Australia. It'll probably be for the rich, but the travelling will be quicker and far less onerous

Great place for astronomers as there's little atmosphere to spoil the view

Trust CD to bring this down to practical matters, But at least he correctly admitted he ws about to pour water on it.

I won't be taking up the offer as I am unlikely to be accepted for this but even if I were I cannot see the point in ptting my body through such an experience just to get a view of the earth. I would also object to being catheterised simply to keep up with the demands of diuretics.

Quicker eh? It's a quarter of a million miles to the moon. If you think a long-haul jet flight is a bit of as drag, just imagine how long you're going to be cooped up in some sort of capsule to the Moon, about 3 days!

Travelling is only part of it. You've got to speed up to get there in that time, then, you've got to slow down and that's before you even think about landing. There's no runways there, yet.

Blasting off from the Moon won't be so difficult (comparatively speaking) but when you get back towards the Earth, not only have you got to slow down, whatever you're travelling in has to survive re-entry and then there's to joy to come of the actual landing.

The only vehicle (so far) that went in to space and landed like a conventional plane on a runway was the Space Shuttle and that didn't land on the Moon either.

SO, what new wonders can be made to work in the next 10 years capable of taking "toutrists"? Won't happen.

Comparing what I said about 1935 aircraft to present day, from then and 10 years on, the only plane made during that time-scale that was big enough was the Spruce Goose and that only ever made one flight without the supposed payload of 750 troops. Look how long it took to get the Airbus 380 aloft?

The proposed time-scale for tourist Moon travel of 10 years just isn't practical.
