Why is it that when there's anything "political" happening do the BBC remove all links on their website to regional news sites like regional newspapers?

Often, the only way to read any "interesting" news is to read such links which then have their own links to other regional news items.

The BBC only provide a limited amount of info about a news item but the links from regional newspapers (or news sites) provide a more in-depth coverage.

As to the coverage of "political happenings", I think the headline news items are what people want to see but the over-the-top, constant, over-sensationalised, blanket coverage just makes people go elsewhere or (with the TV news) switch off altogether?

Yesterday's news bulletin opened up with Leicester City. This continued for a full seven minutes of airing. This however, wasn't an end to it. Halfway through the bulletin they returned to the Leicester City topic once more, and rolled this out for a further three minutes. I think the reason for this was that Leicester City won some sort of football match.

Complete overkill or what ?

Slightly more than just a football match!

There were 13 million tickets sold for Premier League matches so far this season, add to that the tens of millions who watch the matches on TV and you have an event that is of great interest to a large proportion of the general population.

i'm off to Middlesbrough on Saturday - if we win you may just see a similar 'overkill, (by your opinion), in a couple of years.

SEAGULLS - SEAGULLS

The BeeB gets attacked for just about anything and everything. It's a shame that this pioneer of broadcasting has become a punchbag. You get the other broadcasters who feel undermined by them, the Murdoch spivs just wanting to asset strip, the politicians seeking maximum exposure on their own terms. The Leicester story was an amazing one for the millions who follow football yet there are those who would prefer to see the world Gurning championships or a live debate from the Stockingford social club concerning the life and times of a limp Lettuce. I wonder if I am the only one who considers the average Brit to have truly earned the title coined by our antipodean cousins? Wingeing Poms.
