The thing that surprises me is that it's Crawley, and not Dagenham.

So the 'newspaper' article lists just four items from a long list of potential outgoings a family might have in order to make a total non-news story.

How different the perception would be if instead of the items chosen they had selected the following instead:-

Contents Insurance

Life Insurance/Pension

Health - prescriptions, dentists, glasses

Children's pocket money/school trips

A council spokesman said the advice was 'standard debt and budgeting advice', adding: 'There are lots of things in the list that will not apply to many council tenants but the list helps them to prioritise the most important payments.'

This list doesn't seem to provide proper support for gay men.

It doesn't include council-assisted supplies of lube. Is this homophobic?
