David Cameron has commissioned a health adviser to review whether people with obesity, alcohol or drug problems should have benefits cut if they refuse treatment to make them fit for work.

I have just thrown up ,..how is obesity thrown in with drugs and alcohol abuse ? Millions of overweight people work for crips sake nearly all MP's are fat lying (very long word) who need employment

Vote tory and keep voting them until poverty is abolished with the end of benefits and cull of the under 20 granders .

Nothing wrong with treatments as long as they work ,nothing wrong with setting it up ..everything wrong with the plan of targets means 'make sure you sanction em all and use any (long word) excuse to do it.

I'd hardly call moonfaced Dismal Dave lithe and lean. Perhaps he'd like to try working for a living himself. I once saw him on TV in a photo opportunity, where he was visiting a building site. His piece to camera called for him to hit a nail. First strike was a miss, second he bent the nail. Of course running true to form, he blamed the hammer. Well he would, wouldn't he ?

I think our natural response to calls of this kind is to demand a level playing field for all. Smokers who put themselves at a higher risk of medical problems paid additional duty through tobacco tax, drinkers the same. It could be argued that obesity is in part due to increased use of cars, people drive tiny distances rather than walk but they also pay heavily in petroleum tax.
The NHS cannot be ignored, in funding terms it seems to be a bottomless pit. We the general public make more and more use of it, our youngsters are being raised in a cosseted environment meaning scrapes, bruises and things like that are less often experienced, subsequently when something does happen it's straight off to A&E where they join other people with such life threatening conditions as toothache, turned ankle, slips and trips ( nothing to do with compensation) and fat people suffering shortage of breath whilst walking to their car.
As far as benefits are concerned everyone has a duty to look after themselves and to wherever possible go out and earn a crust. Those who believe they do not have that obligation be they thin, fat, white or black, should have their benefits managed and reduced if necessary.

Mostly agree if there were jobs enough to crust earn then yep......what is an outrage of insane proportion is overweight is thrown in with drug abuse imo...has this country really so little to do than worry about benefit from tax...you really are beyond help if you think this shower of .... or any of them are saving you money to make the hard working folk better off.

...when all have jobs (they cant do in most cases) then what happens to the 3 million civil servants (paid from tax and borrowing off your work) who are employed to find people work? They become unemployed don't they and as there is no benefit system and they have the lalalal of never being able to be sacked or lose their pensions ,I assume they will all sit on their lardies in the sun whilst you lot work off the debt they got you in and laugh...especially as they want bullets to be fired in any direction to help you feel better if the person is to blame cant work like a looney 16 hrs a day to fund 'civil hols' (not yours) and ,leave work, cant afford health care, doesnt get benefit and dies. Hardy hardy hardy more for us ...(I mean you).

At the same time as the Tories defend, Tax avoiders. Yes they go after the run of the mill ones, but accept money and never go after the major ones.

They moan about Ireland & Luxembourg, hosting UK companies for Tax purposes, while offering massive Tax breaks to German & French companies to come and base themselves to the City of London

They gave massive Tax breaks to the wealthiest, then try to defend it, by saying they gave everyone a a Tax break of £750. They make out, that is EVERY year, while in fact that is bundling up 5 years of Tax cuts together.

For working families, that is more than wiped out (in one year), by the withdrawal of working Tax credit from many thousands of Families.

They handed out, '4x over the odds' saving rates to rich pensioners, this has now been extended and increased, in the run up to the election.While they refuse to take away free TV Licences & Winter heating allowance from millionaires.

They no longer bother hiding their hatred & disdain for the poor, ill & Disabled. All you need to do to see this, is watch the Commons select committees on Works & Pensions & Disability.

They seem to revel in it nowadays

could not agree more Al and yes that is the face of a homicidal manslaughterer and should never have been allowed to govern anyone or anything hence no one in the country voted for tory when he was leader.....and now it looks like pension ministers brother is going to be the new health minister for benefit claimants.(brother in spirit)

I am pleased this Govt is ending the welfare for life culture and the sense of entitlelemnt that so many of the descendenats of our working class have .

There is no reason for anyone in Britian to be in receipt of benefits , hence the millions of foreigners who pour in and do the jobs they dont want .

It should not be an option to sit on the dole , you regd for any benfit , you can come to the Church hall for a bowl of soup , then get given a job , working in feilds for farmers , or picking up litter at the side of the road

You will soon see how many choose that lifestyle .

I totally understand your viewpoint papko ,I really do and I am not saying something should not be done...but 10.600 (fact) dead in 4 yrs and a refusal to release the up to date figure ..I mean come on,a government party and welfare refoms should not do that and its the tip of the iceburg as well..Its murder and manslaughter and its a cull.

WHEN and only WHEN there are more jobs than people then there is no need (except for the sick and disable ) to not do something.(so creating that something is the good govern) this is shameful and a crime and it makes me sick to my core ...not just the IDS of this world and how they are allowed to govern in 2014 UK ,but also how normal people care so little for each other in general and advocate IDS in what can only be described as a crime against humanity . Please tell me you don't think hes saving money and you will reap the benefits .

Answer me please this question...what do you suppose the near 3 million employed and created jobs in civil getting people employment ,going to do when all are working ?

No British person actually wants mass immigration. Because we can see that it's a blatatant attempt to destroy our country.

I don't mind a bit of immigration, I'm british and I also support those Brits who seek a better life or retirement abroad. I'm happy being part of Europe but dislike the loss of sovereignty associated with it as it stands. I am dissolution end by the constant quest for growth which drives so much destruction, Why must we have inflation, why not allow a currency to hold its value, one reason is we are not self sufficient although there is potential from fracking which by nature we all oppose. I don't want us to be a super power but we should be able to defend ourselves. All in all its a pretty grim situation as things stand, how many politicians can we seriously rely on?

Malac,do not not vote..you are talking mainstream politicians and they are media toted and yes they are all the same party agenda..but please vote for any of the others otherwise you are vetoing more of the same by not giving your vote to someone who may start the change.

All people have to vote or we are doomed in some respects as you say...and immigration is not the problem,its not having british free pass to europe as europe has for britain (thank tony blair for that 'oversight' ..being able to happily resettle and work anywhere is the only agenda that really matters (happily being the key word.)

All the jobs created have been taken by immigrants , because life is too comfortable on the dole , house piad , pocket money , no worries , a big telly and a warm house

compared to that migrants work in the feilds , in all weathers and take home the cash

end result , our people have not a days work in them

Make them all work for theri benfits from day one ,Druggies , Alcos , obese disabled , "bad backs " "depressed " "bi polar "

etc ,

Our country cannot afford to carry them that will not work
