Protests and protestors.

Today a "protest camp" has been set up on a farmers field near Blackpool. There's tents, cars, vans and of course people with their associated paraphernalia of banners and placards.

These "protestors" seem to think they have a right to enter property owned by other people and literally do as they like. Now, the landowner is faced with expensive legal action to evict them and will (eventually) have the job of clearing the site and making it safe for animals again.

Isn't it high time that such "protests" were taken in hand to prevent the type of gatherings we've seen so many times before over many and varied issues?

It would be a good idea for the farmer to go round his field and take down the registration numbers of all the vehicles he finds on his land and eventually sues the owners (of the vehicles) for the expense of his legal action, the cost of cleaning up the field and for any damage caused?

i;m curious what would happen if a farner put up warning signs and put a bull into the field?

Hi, in fact if it was beef cattle he wouldn't have to !that is of course if they were already in the field, but I take your point & it's a good one, from what I understand this Farmer has nothing to do with what these people are protesting about, so I can't understand why they feel they have the right to not only disrupt his business but also ruin pasture land that will take years to recover especially if they are having the heavy rainfall that most are having at the moment, perhaps these selfish, arrogant numpties would feel a little less so if the roles were reversed & he dumped a trailer load of bullocks onto their pristine gardens & veggie patch, because he didn't like the way their neighbours hung their curtains!. I know this is a silly comparison but this Farmer has nothing to do with their protest & so shouldn't have to foot the bill for it!.

It appears as though the farmer has sold his soul for a short term few quid whislt the locals and their decendants will have to live with his selfish and possibly damaging actions for years to come

That short term few quid as you put it is his right it was his to sell to whoever he wanted to the same as anyone else, it still doesn't give people the right to trample all over what I understand is his private land, as I'm sure you would object if you came downstairs one morning & found these people in your garden!.

From what I've read, it seems the fracking is going on nearby, not on that farmers land?

I might get offered good money to rent my back garden to a fracking company,but because of my concern for my neighbours and their children i wouldn't,obviously an extra few quid is more important to some than the welfare of others,so be it,but it doesn't make a particulary nice society to live in,also there's been some studies coming from the USA about the damaging effects on livestock and crops in the area's of fracking,maybe this particular farmer should have shufty at the papers,unless he's been an offer he cannot refuse............

The farmer has nothing to do with the fracking, the fracking is nearby, not on his field which is going to be ruined now by a handful of ignorant trespassers.

So the information CDs just given alters things, this poor guy not only has everyone on his back for something he hasn't done & a load of morons in his field,perhaps someone ought to give him & his family a thought! Especially when in the winter he will probably have to give extra feed to his stock because of their actions,so not only through no fault of his own he is out of pocket in all areas. I didn't mention Fracking in your garden, I asked how would you feel if you found these people camping in your garden& given the information we've just received I think that's a valid question?.my first thought would be if I can't graze my stock on it for quite some months, I ought to start muck spreading it.TODAY, preferably pig muck. lol.

People would be not camping in my garden for the simple reason i would'nt allow it to be fracked,so the problem wouldn't arise,anyway the gravel would be a bit uncomfortable on the jacksy and my jack russell would take umbridge to them

Those occupying the field claim it is the proposed fracking site - not seen a report yet saying it isn't.

At midday today, protestors from Reclaim the Power set up camp at Preston New Road, at fracking company Cuadrilla’s proposed drilling site. Apparently the burning of Fossil Fuels has been polluting the atmosphere for hundreds of years leading to Global melt-down, and yet when coal mines were closed by the dozen people were up in arms!

Where were the protests outside the collieries? Where were Reclaim The Power when the mining of supposedly the most harmful substances on the planet was taking place? What's a bit of trouble with livestock and crops compared to the mining of Earth's damnation?!
