<P>OK, I'm posting this on here and not on the computing section; because some of you might not read the things on there and you should all know about it. I've just spent the whole evening, saving my computer &amp; Me from a virus attack; like I've never had before. I have an automatic information set up, to inform Me of any updates available from various things like Adobe Reader, Javascript, AVG and several other things I have on this system. This evening, I get an information Icon which says updates are available for Javascript ( all the javascript icons are correct and so is the layout ); so I click download.........and all hell brakes loose. Within 1 minute, AVG kicks in with "THREAT DETECTED" across the screen ( I have full AVG.....paid for ). I then instantly know the download was not genuine, but ,by that time, it's got into the system and downloaded several other little packages. I then cancel everything I can, to do with the dodgy site and go into My programs settings ( lists ) where I uninstalled everything I didn't recognise. I probably uninstalled a couple of things, that were there already, but it told me they had hardly been used; so I wont miss them. I then ran a quick scan with "Malwarebytes" which detected 161 various infections, including 6 Trojans. I removed them, having to shut down and restart the computer to action what I'd done. I then ran a full AVG scan, which just told me it had protected me from several harmful items ( but in fact it hadn't ); so I then ran a full scan with "Malwarebytes". This took 1 hour and 40 minutes and scanned every item on the system, all 365, 487 of them. It found 2 more of the sneeky little blighters, hiding in corners that were missed by the quick scan. It's now clean as a Whistle, but a couple of things you should know. When you buy anything on ebay, when you sign in to PayPal to pay; you stay signed in until you either sign out, or shut down your computer. So sign out after you have completed any transactions, that way; people can only get into your eBay account ( if you've got it open of course ) and not into your PayPal account........and thereby your money. Also, obviously, if you do on line banking; don't keep it open on a tab. I know that may sound silly, but I bet some people do. Finally..........If you get prompted to download "Javascript" updates...............DON'T.................Gawd what a night it's been !!</P>
