A woman has spoken of her surprise at finding a £5 note tucked into a box of eggs as a New Year's gift from a mystery benefactor.

Lauren Scouse found the money with a note attached when she bought the eggs at a Tesco store in Southsea, Hampshire.

The note said: "Happy New Year. May it be full of health, peace and prosperity."

The mother of two told the Portsmouth News: "I thought it was lovely and it's so nice knowing that someone has done that without knowing who it was going to.

"I know it's only £5 and it's not a life-changing amount of money but it was really kind."

http://www.talktalk.co.uk/news/odd/article/pound-5-new-year-surprise-in-an-egg-box/115435/

I know the point of this thread was so you could mention your favourite 'S' word, Arfur LOL but going off topic for a second to the actual content of that link about the £5 note being left in the eggs, has anyone else been hearing a lot about this kind of stuff recently?

I believe it's called 'Paying it Forward' by performing random acts of kindness for strangers:

http://payitforwardday.co.uk/

I read an article the other day in which Davina McCall was saying that sometimes she just randomly pays the toll charge for the car behind her or she pays for someone else's meal in a McDonalds drive through.,,,how bizarre?

It doesn't have to be financial kindnesses either, some people are just leaving inspirational notes for others to find on public transport or in shops and restaurants etc.

I've never done it myself, but I must admit, I think it's quite sweet TBH

I've heard of people leaving books lying around Lola, for others to find. Not sure if that includes 'Fifty Shades of Grey' though. Funny, but David Beckham's autobiography always seems to get left behind. Probably because it would take the Enigma machine to decipher it.
