Car Tragedy

This is so so tragic, and my thoughts and condolences go to family and friends.

Why though, were a 14, and 16 year old out so late, and making their way home alone from a "Party" at 4.00 am in the morning?

Or.. am I the only one thinking this?

Isn't this case now sub judice as someone has been arrested making comments inappropriate and possibly an offence.

I know....

And as a 15 year old I also went to work at 4.30 am ... but that is a completely different scenario.

My Parents would never have allowed me to stay out till mdnight, let alone 4.00am, and beyond.
And I .. as a Parent would not have allowed it either.

If my children were not at home at a pre-arranged time, panic would have ensued, search would have been instigated, and the Police would have been called.

A terrible tragic scenario all round... but questions will have to be answered.

Personally I wouldn't allow my son (who is nearly 14) to stay out partying till 4.30 in the morning but, we're not privy to all the facts here so.....

Surely that statement would apply equally to all news stories where someone has been arrested?

I believe some people, who know the victims and perpetrator personally, were openly posting vital information about the case on Facebook yesterday.

The police removed the comments for obvious reasons and are appealing for people not to make any more comments on social media sites which could predjudice the ongoing investigation.

I'm sure that wouldn't apply to this thread, Creeky would it?

Actually, I think mr-expresso makes a very good point. Newspaper delivery boys and girls of a similar age are regularly out at those sorts of hours, roaming the streets in the early morning, but I suspect if there were to be a suggestion of some limitation or ban on such newspaper deliveries, it would yield a similar few claiming it was all due to HR act/Brussels/Immigration etc.

In this tragic case it appears both victims were just yards away from the home of one of them.As we dont know much more, and it's specualation, it seems completely inappropriate to comment further on the tragedy, other than to say two young girls sadly lost their lives.

As a general point, I would have thought that 4.00 am was a fairly safe time to be walking home.

Not likely to be many dodgy characters out and about at that time of the morning.

I agree with all that has been said, but Partying till 4.00am. ??? How many of you think that is okay for children.

Whereas I agree that we are not in possession of all the facts, and that 4.00am could be deemed a safer time then say, around midnight, the fact is that those kids should have been at home in bed, ..... and getting up at 5.30 - 6.00am if a paperboy /girl.

However, they were not working , they had been partying, so that is just distancing us from the actual tragic event.

And,,,, I did a paper round, and 4.00 am was not the time I ever started.

Got up at 6.00, for Newsagent opening at 6.30, as did my son.

I might have done too if my Parents had not operated proper control.

I am not criticising the children, more wondering about Parental authority, control, and permission.

I suppose it would all depend on what you would call proper control, a 16 year old can leave home and live independently without needing their parent's permission.

Not that it makes the loss of 2 young lives any less sad, but it seems that earlier reports of the girls returning home after being out partying all night were incorrect.
On the contrary, it's emerging that they were having a girl's night in at Jasmine Allsop's home with her mother present.

I've no idea why they went outside at 4.15am, nor would I want to make any guesses. Without being in possesion of all facts, anything else is just speculation.

It's a shame that instead of sympathy for their loss, some feel it appropriate to put main emphasis on criticising the parents.

No one was being judgemental, as far as I can see, but when something as tragic as this happens, it does bring out sympathy, concern, and questions, the main one being "Why?"

People don't, or shouldn't accept things, or shrug them off.

With sympathy in tragic circumstances such as this, there is a need need to understand.

I was deeply upset over this horrific incident, thinking, - what if this had happened to me, and mine.

I then wondered what the children were doing out so late, particularly the 14 year old.

Everyone who posted on here expressed deep sympathy to family and friends.

Once again the media may have got it spectacularly wrong, so, instead of reporting the sad facts, they embellish with unsubstantiated accounts. Causing distress and misery.

Many years back in the days of the cold war, the Russians used to dismiss the Western Press (long before "The Media" became the buzz-word) as Capitalist propaganda and say that it was all a pack of lies. Is it any wonder?

As an example and on another subject, the little girl killed by the family dog, this morning I saw the breed given as a "French Mastiff" with a pic of one.

Those press vultures are sickening, I heard one say he was reporting from outside the little girls home, can they not leave people alone at a time like that.

I suspect there will be trouble at the rehoming centre that let a dog like that go to a home with a small child.

I don't believe anyone has any cause to 'feel red-faced' about anything they've posted on this thread, Creeky but I'm pleased to see that your need to criticise other posters' contributions has helped you to overcome your reticence at posting on a sub judice topic.

Incidentally, if it is an offence to comment on a sub judice case, as you claim, then maybe you need to tell that to the Hampshire Police because not only are they allowing hundreds of people to openly comment on this case on their official Facebook page but they themselves seem happy enough to post frequent updates around the ongoing investigation.

I know one who gets up about 4.00 am and goes to the Newsagents for about 5.00 am.

If you keep reading the papers, then they have no incentive to change. If you then jump to moralizing on the basis of pure speculation in many cases, you are no better than the papers you read. No good just laying all the blame at their door. They are well aware what feeds their readers, and in that sense, their judgement is correct
