...... is eBay a bit hypocritical?

Have you noticed that when you place a bid you get the following message? (with your own name, obviously.)

blackburn_stevie, you're the highest bidder on this item. Hope you win it.

But that just can't be true. Not unless eBay are trying to say that they don't want the bidding to go any higher and can YOU see that being the case?

I usually get a message telling me i may still lose ,would i like to increase my bid !

If I use one of the telly shopping sites on the net I get that alot. They say 'If you went to a higher bid you may get the item'. What do they think we are. Have we millions to spend. No. You only spend what you can afford.
