Does the UK want another WAR.

BBC News......It is understood the most likely military response to Wednesday's suspected chemical weapons attack would be a one-off or limited guided missile strikes on Syrian military targets fired from US Navy warships.

Mr Cameron has spoken to a number of foreign leaders over the bank holiday weekend, including US President Barack Obama and his French and German counterparts.

The prime minister and Mr Obama agreed the need for a "firm response" from the international community to the attack.

Downing Street said Mr Cameron had used a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin to tell him there was "little doubt" a chemical weapons attack had been carried out by President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

But Mr Putin told him they had no evidence an attack had taken place or who was responsible, it said.

'Fabricated' footage

Russia, a key ally of Syria, has warned any intervention without a UN mandate would be "a grave violation of international law".

Labour MP Paul Flynn warned that hasty action could see the conflict spread beyond Syria's borders.

"We have a very bitter, bloody civil war," he told BBC Radio Wales.

"It could easily turn into a regional war with Lebanon, Israel and all the surrounding nations in this and then possibly a world war with China and Russia."

UN chemical weapons inspectors visited five sites around Damascus on Monday.

Meanwhile, former prime minister Tony Blair has warned enduring controversy over the decision to invade Iraq in 2003 should not stop politicians from helping the Syrian people.

Avoiding military intervention could result in "a nightmare scenario" for the West in the Middle East, he wrote in the Times.

We should keep our noses out. Best thing to do would be to isolate Syria and close all the borders and let them all see each other off.

When it's "over", they won't thank us, they'll turn on us as they have everywhere else we've poked our noses.

If the West foolishly decided to go in, guns blazing it wouldn't be long before there was NO Syrian air force because the first thing the West would do is to launch Cruise missiles aimed at all the air force hangars and missile batteries.

I think its more about selling arms to the rebels.. Russia and China says keep out..but UK and USA love wars..

Looking at the scenario there, it seems there's the Syrian government on the one side and at least a couple of "factions" on the rebel side.

Were "we" (the West) to foolishly get involved there, we'd have at least the present government side and (eventually) the rebel faction allied to al-Qaeda lined up against us.

Were we to supply weapons to "the rebels", eventually some of those weapons could be used against us because al-Qaeda sees us as enemies.

As well as Syria, we should steer clear of all countries where there's been no long term (centuries of) stable government until they catch up (if that's possible).

By stable government, I mean stability imposed by democratic voting and the rule of Laws not a government imposing rule by force of arms and corruption causing impoverishment of the people.

If I put my Mr Angry head on for a minute, I'd suggest that Obama (along with all of his War-mongering allies) formulate a letter to send to the bosses of all of the Syrian Allies. The letter goes along these lines ......

"Listen guys, the world is well and truly Kerry Packered. So let's have a big war, wipe out a few million innocent people and see what happens. We'll start the ball rolling by totally destroying Syria and launching 25 atomic missiles into the Industrial heartland of Russia and China from our nuclear submarines at the very first sign of any hostile action by those countries. Your choice. Either end the world as you know it or sit back and do nothing."

But then if I change into my Mr Thoughtful hat, I'd have to say that leaving them alone to fight their own battles is a decent idea. Just impose a blockade so that we neither buy from or sell to Syria and neither do we sell to countries that sell to Syria via the back door. After all, what is the point of proudly saying that we don't sell weapons to the Syrian Armed Forces if we happily sell arms to France and THEY DO sell to Syria. It kinda defeats the object, huh??

The question that should be asked is would the Syrian people support us (the UK) if say Argentina declared war on us over the Falklands, we all know the yanks wont (hmmm but this time they just may since oil is involved) so just how much would Syria give us if we were in need? then treat them the same way.

Hi tommy, if say we had an opressive goverment that would rather send in its troops to quell any unrest, what would you do? sit and take it or fight back? Rebels, insurgents, partisans or freedom fighters take your pick.Rebels are not always the bad guys.

Russia on Tuesday warned a military intervention in Syria could have 'catastrophic consequences' for the region and called on the international community to show 'prudence' over the crisis.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin tweeted: 'the West behaves towards the Islamic world like a monkey with a grenade.'

so camoron says chemical weapons are wrong, is that opposed to a bullet through the head, a rocket attack, or a detonated nuke?
