When is ebay going to fix this "Sorry something went wrong on our end"
Summary: Participants are experiencing persistent issues with a recurring error message "Sorry, something went wrong on our end" while using eBay, impacting login and search functionalities. depthcharge00 reports needing to refresh pages multiple times, and others encounter similar difficulties, noting it affects usability significantly. An eBay representative, kat@ebay, asks for specific details to report the problem to technical support. Despite various attempts to troubleshoot, including blocking certain services and modifying browser settings, the issue persists with no clear resolution in sight, causing frustration among users. There is speculation about the problem's link to AI bots or technical updates, but no definitive cause or fix has been identified by eBay.
I get this when I try to login to ebay, I get this when I enter my password, I get this when I am searching ebay.
Have tried different browders and still get this annoying "Sorry, something went wrong on our end" error.

·4 hours agoI appear to have found a workaround, after using Ebay for over 25 years, I reluctantly opened an account on Amazon! If you do a search on it, you just get listings What a lovely company that obviously have an IT department who know how to use the internet! Shame on you Ebay...

·yesterday at 10:25 PMI've had some luck getting around the error in the searches by removing the tracking elements from the URL from the bar, but to log in just now i've had to disable a fair few of my browser extensions.
but yeah it's still a pain to do and not a fix.

·5 days agoI get the same message at login or on item search for weeks now.
I have already given up shopping on ebay a few times and gone elsewhere to shop.
Ebay sellers are getting a raw deal from this ebay glitch.
Is anyone awake at Ebay? Prehaps the AI running the show no longer likes human shoppers.

OP5 days agoThis has been going a while now, tbh it looks like ebay either can't fix it or won't fix it.
Logging in has become annoying with the error, searching has become annoying with
the error page, sometimes having to refresh the page 3-4 times, even though one cle
the cache and cookies. Even switching browsers gives the same error page.

·1 week ago@kat@ebay Kat, you've asked for a deal of information that your technical people do - or should - already know. It is YOUR servers sending the error message to OUR screens, and you (or they) will know the trigger that prompts this. If they haven't already, they should be writing some error-trapping code to capture this, rather than outsourcing it through you to US to cover for the deficit. And while they work on it - tell them to drop the picture of a stupid kid with a hood over his face - it's pathetically unprofessional and, when seen upwards of a dozen times, is infuriating rather than amusing.

·1 week agoI've finally lost all patience with this stupid error. I've been getting it for weeks and it is literally making the site unusable. OP1 week agoEverychance Ebay is being hammered by a constant barrage of Ai scraping bots, a lot of websites are now using cloudflare to try stop them. @Kat is ebay IT using the "robot.txt " to prevent Ai scraping and search bots from overloading the ebay servers ?

·1 week agoThis 'search error' thing is still going on - I'm seeing it around 20-30% of the time with a new search, a modified search, when going from page to next page, when opening an item view and at other occasions. Always the same or similar error message (as pictured elsewhere on this thread) - error code is variable (e.g. 0.50f0317.1790773857.20f210b, 0.50f0317.1790773977.2147f19). ·3 weeks agoI have had the same error messages randomly happening for a couple of weeks when signing in and when performing searches on Ebay. Repeating the action eventually works but then it may just happen again for the next search. I normally use the Pale Moon browser on Windows 10 on Desktop so I thought this was maybe related to that, maybe Ebay thinking it was a bot as it is a lesser used browser. I have attached a picture of a typical error on doing a search.
kat@ebay
Hi @mad_orcadian ,
Thank you for your post and the details with screenshot.
I'll add them to the ticket with tech for this issue. They are continuing to work on it.
Thank you,

Hi @timuk2003 ,
Thank you for following up.
As it seems to be an intermittent issue it remains ongoing with tech. If you have a recent example with below details to share I can send it to them.
Device / browser / OS
Exact timestamp of the latest failure
Whether it happens on mobile, desktop, or both
Exact path: home page → sign in → password entry → error
If you get signed in is it then the same error on search
Search term and, if possible, the failing search URL
Screenshot of the error page/error message
Whether it works on a different device or network.
Thank you,
Kat

·1 week agoHi Kat, it's on a desktop PC, I've tried different browsers to no effect, haven't tried on mobile as I got rid of the app. The crash happens on searching for absolutely anything, I just repeat the same search until it doesn't crash, also even for after I have searched items then click on to sort them into a different order such as lowest price it crashes then. Timestamp = just now, or any time in last week or so but seems to be getting worse. This is the erroe message just now

·yesterday at 12:31 AMWhen is someone going to fix this Kat?
It's getting worse Probably around 40-50% of the time now during searches, maybe a in new search, maybe page to page, then maybe when trying to view an item listing. Or can occur at other times when trying to navigate around, open a link etc. It can take up to 4- 5-6-7 refreshes on occasions to clear the issue and get to where one wanted to be. It rarely clears on the first refresh. It often flashes up a page of some kind for milliseconds (too shorter time to see what it's trying to display) and then defaults to 'error'.

OP3 weeks agoNo, it's still going on! And it's counterintuitive to say the least and annoying, although
it might be ebay's way in thwarting the massive Ai bot scraping that is going on now all
over the internet, a lot more website are demanding that you are human or go through
a verification procedure. Or ebay is broken again because they keep messing with it!

·3 weeks agoI get the very same message, whenever I clear my cookies and cache, which i do on a regular basis. "Sorry Something went wrong on our end" then asks me to "Go to Homepage" .
When I refresh the page, 2 or 3 times, there sometimes is a delay and then it open up my account page. Then I can work as normal, but sometimes while scrolling through pages that message appears, clearing only if i refresh page.
Frustrating, more than annoying. Can you not just kick your servers now again, might help!
