How do I change the postage option back to simple delivery to avoid having to pay postage that the buyer has already paid please?
Summary: velcro10wpur sold a parcel of magazines and faced issues with the postage process through eBay, as they believed they were overcharged for delivery. boundarycoins clarified that the item was listed with a custom postage option (Parcelforce 48) and not eligible for simple delivery. Another participant, jonatjonatjonat, reassured velcro10wpur that the funds for postage were included and they could purchase postage from any provider. jonatjonatjonat also mentioned the difficulty of directly contacting eBay for resolution. velcro10wpur appreciated the insights and considered checking the received funds and updating the buyer accordingly.
I have sold a hundred White Dwarf magazines and would have to take the packed parcel, measuring 61cm 30cm 28cm and weighing over 20kg to a post office for collection from there. In order to avoid them saying the postage - £13.63 simple delivery - to be inadequate, I input the parcel measurement above, believing this would be an enquiry option only, discovering afterwards this did not provide any answer and now the only option I had was to buy a postage label when the buyer has already paid this. This is a system failure, and the resolution centre is AI driven and most likely won't give a straight answer. Would I be best off waiting until after the deadline of tomorrow for posting (it's all packed and ready to go and have informed the buyer of the issue last night) has passed so I can respond to a message direct or is there another quicker way of getting Ebay to sort this out even if they have to refund me the postage on my account after I buy what has already paid for?

·1 month agoThat listing was never sold with Simple Delivery - presumably due to the bulky nature.
It was listed with £13.63 and hte delivery method was stated as Parcelforce 48.
As such, you will have received funds of £13.63 with which to purchase appropriate postage. You didn't have to buy that from ebay - you can buy from wherever you wish.

OP1 month agoThat's interesting. That makes more sense, so I wilk check the monies have come in that way, and then inform the buyer.
The buyer told me they had chosen simple delivery but perhaps they guestimated the weight and selected this ootion.
Maybe I did! But what you say makes sense and thank you for confirming this.

·1 month agoit looks like you listed it with custom postage (Parcelforce 48) so simple delivery doesn’t apply.
Not sure what the problem is other than I presume you’re taking a risk with underinsurance.

·1 month agoApologies I totally skipped your title of this topic. It can’t switch from custom to simple delivery now.
I put your dimensions into Parcel2Go and a 21kg weight and got these results for Parcelforce:

OP1 month agoThank you for your reply. Yes, the buyer chose the postage option and I made what I thought was an enquiry only to then find it had mafe it payabke again. One if the Ebay admins has deleted my post on another thread. Is there a way of telephoning them direct, do you know?

·1 month agoIf you visit the ebay contact us page on mobile, sometimes you might get a call back option - other than that - no.
But rest assured - you will have received £13.63 alongside the proceeds of the product sale with which to pay postage. You choose where you get that postage from - provided it will arrived in the time that was stated.

Personally I wouldn’t bother. It’s custom postage you just need to post it.
To repeat myself on the insurance, that would be my only worry. You may want to pay extra to get better cover on it but this would be out of your pocket if you do, I wouldn’t trouble the buyer with that side of things.
