Has anyone else had problems signing into their account?
I'm writing this using my 'new' eBay identity, because I haven't been able to sign in to my 'old' account (Sabaidee!).
Without giving me any notice whatsoever, ebay changed my verification process from sending a code to my email address to sending one to the phone number I used when I set up the account more than 20 years ago. Fortunately we still have the - landline! - number, but the phone would ring, I would answer and there would be an automated voice saying "this is ebay, if you were expecting this call, press [a number between 0-9]". So I pressed the relevant number and got... the same message again. So I would press the number again and then the line would go dead. This happened several times, but I managed (without signing in) to request a call-back from ebay customer support.
The 'person'(? - who knows whether it was an actual human or a very natural-sounding bot!), if I understood her correctly, said other people were having the same problem, and that I should allow ebay 24 hours to fix the issue then try to sign in again. I did as I was told and... exactly the same thing happened again.
OK, so it's been easy enough to create a new ID, but if I had been bidding on/buying something or - worse - selling anything, I can see things getting really messy.
Thankfully I seem to have sorted the problem, for now at least, but I just wondered whether anyone else had got caught out as I did.
