Buyers using 'click & collect to a 'Royal Mail shop or Post Office' does NOT generate 'bring my label'.
Summary: Several participants, including scarlette.fantastique, discussed a recurring issue with eBay's 'click & collect' service involving Royal Mail. When buyers choose 'click & collect' as the delivery method, the system fails to generate a 'bring my label', causing significant inconvenience as sellers are forced to print labels themselves or cancel orders. Other participants, like tamblyn1976, shared similar experiences and expressed frustration. juglai68 contacted both eBay Customer Services and Royal Mail, receiving an explanation that the issue stems from eBay's booking system and advising them to continue raising the issue with eBay. Overall, the discussion highlights the need for eBay to address and resolve this problem promptly.
Update to my earlier question on this post: https://community.ebay.co.uk/forum/member-to-member-support-26/topic/simple-delivery-not-generating-bring-my-label-for-some-booked-collections-49483/
I have now have had to spend ages working this out for myself because neither ebay customer services on the phone or their AI bot were any help whatsoever.
There is a glitch with newly added 'click & collect' to a 'Royal Mail shop' or Post Office.
If the seller only has Royal Mail enabled as the carrier...
... and the customer buys something and selects 'click & collect' delivery a 'Royal Mail shop' (or Post Office)...
... then the seller generates the postage label and requests collection...
... then the Simple Delivery mechanism DOES NOT alert RM to bring the label with them, nor does it even send the seller a QR code to scan to print the label at a RM locker or Post Office.
So for now, I am going to have to disable "Click & Collect' completely in order to keep using Royal Mail with collections where they bring the label. Annoying because this will limit sales by excluding all 'click & collect' transactions.
Hopefully this is a bug that ebay recognises and is already working on...but judging by the lack of understanding from three people that I have already spoken to in Customer Services, I doubt it...

·1 week ago · EditedI have the same issue and reported it to eBay Customer Services and Royal Mail.
Royal Mail replied with the following:
"I am sorry for the inconvenience and frustration this issue has caused.
As these collections were booked through eBay's Simple Delivery service, we do not have control over the delivery and collection options that are selected during the booking process. The information provided to our collection network, including whether a label should be brought by the postperson, is generated through the eBay booking system rather than by Royal Mail.
I appreciate this is particularly frustrating when the collection has been arranged with the expectation that a label will be provided, only for you to then have to print one yourself or rebook the collection. I understand this is inconvenient for both yourself and the postperson attending the collection.
As the bookings were made via eBay, we would recommend continuing to raise this directly with eBay's Simple Delivery team, as they are best placed to investigate why the label request is not being passed through correctly on these particular bookings.
Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused."
I received no reply regarding the issue from eBay.

·1 month agoThis is the exact same issue I currently have. I click the Royal Mail collection box, book for the item I'm selling to be collected and then the "print label" button to continue to the next screen. Which usually shows the dispatched screen, plus the courier will bring printed label with them. That message isn't showing, so I assumed this was a glitch and the courier would bring the label anyway. They didn't, so I was left with an item I couldn't send off to the buyer and had to cancel their order.

·1 week agoI’ve got the same issue and it looks like I’m going to have to cancel the order. What reason did you give the buyer for cancelling the order?

·1 week ago · EditedI can't remember, but it was the bottom reason I think? I left a message for them, saying why I cancelled it & if they wanted to buy the item again? to please choose Delivery option at checkout & not click & collect.
That worked, the courier will bring label with them message appeared. That's when I chose the book a collection option.

·1 month agoThank you for your posts on this topic - and for explaining it in detail and so clearly. Excellent work - unlike ebay's CS.
This glitsch happened to me today (27/08/26) so the the bug is still live and still causing problems.

·2 months agoThis just happened to me as well, VERY annoying as the RM postie kept advising me to "rebook" the collection but when I did they still turned up with no label (and the tracking shows "parcel unavailable for collection" which obviously isn't true). I took the parcel to the post office today as they then advised me "someone in the post office should be able to print out the label" but the Post Office couldn't so I had to send it via the normal Tracked 48 at my own additional expense. Ebay need to sort this out so this service still generates a label or alternately remove the service from collections where no printer is required. :(
