ANNOYING EBAY LIVE
Summary: A participant expressed frustration with intrusive 'eBay Live' advertisements on the platform, describing them as AI-generated and irrelevant to their interests. They noted that this poor marketing tactic not only annoyed them but also discouraged their engagement with the platform, leading them to consider alternatives like Cex and Vinted. The ads, which take up significant space on the page, have deterred the participant from using the platform further.
Every single time I go on the eBay app, my feed is absolutely FLOODED with ebay livestreams. No, allegedly I don't want whatever cheap muck you're offering, and I am sick to death of seeing those stupid AI slop thumbnails!! Allegedly, imagine saying you're an honest seller and then using AI which is far from honest.
How do I get rid of them off my home page?! I don't want to see it anymore. I have tried everything to turn them off, but I'm still seeing them. They're beyond annoying and very unnecessary, imagine sitting around and watching some money folk allegedly flash off clothes and Pokémon cards you can find in pound shops and acting like they're selling the sacred treasures of Egypt.
Allegedly if I can't get rid of them off my feed I'm going to sell elsewhere! And secondly, since this live has appeared on the app I have encountered nothing but glitches.

·1 month agoReally obnoxious and intrusive ‘eBay live’ adverts which are all seemingly rip off, AI generated slop for products that I have absolutely no interest in. This is really poor marketing as it (1) Really annoys me enough to post on a forum. (2) Doesn’t present me with things that I might actually be interested in buying and so (3) makes me less likely to interact with the platform. Taking up half a page with live adverts for absolute junk is really putting me off the platform and I’ve started exploring alternatives like Cex and Vinted instead.
If I want this @#£&* I’d pop down to B&M or Home Bargains in my PJs and slippers.

·1 month agoI've read that it's pushing users to quit the site, here we are again with ebay making changes and NOT considering the users just like they did with the postage changes recently, I last contacted ebay last year and I was passed to SIX people over 20 minutes, the site isn't functioning properly, changes have been made and not tested. I have changed everything to stop EBAY LIVE and everytime I log back in my wall is still saturated with livers.... WHY.

·1 month agoYou may have blocked notifications but that won’t stop it appearing on site as it’s part of eBay’s homepage.
Only way to remove it is certain blockers will allow you to hidden certain elements on a webpage.thoug it will only work if the element has the same div name in the background. EBay change that, the blocks will return.
also won’t impact the app.

·3 months agoif you ever use desktop version i have just realised what i can do...save a certain ebay page as a favourite like MY EBAY and just click that favourite and it will take me right to MYEBAY and bypass that scummy live *bleep*

·3 months agoSomeone just gave me a useful heads up on this. If you have the uBlock Origin extension (Brave, Firefox, etc., sadly not Chrome), you can use the picker tool to select the LIVE trash-spam and cut it out of your homepage. Very useful. eBay really is clogging up the u-bend now. Never have we needed a new competitor so badly. Competition is healthy and eBay has not had enough of it.

·3 months agoAs previously stated it is a one day event that eBay are running to promote the eBay Live service. It stands to reason that they want it to be prominent as there would be no point in them spending money on the promotion otherwise.

·3 months agoEBay Live appeared after iOS update! Didn’t ask for it… Don’t want it. Give users an option to turn it off. It’s annoying and your customer service team don’t have a clue!!
jonatjonatjonat
·3 months agoIt’s nothing to do with the iOS update.
it is eBay using their home page (their shop window) to promote one of their new initiatives.
its more prominent today than normal, next week there will be some other new promotion.
do people not know how a home page works?

·3 months agoJust to make people aware, eBay is running an eBay Live promotion today which is why you are all seeing so much of this on your homepage at the moment. It should return to normal tomorrow.

·3 months agoI literally spent 40minutes with eBay help trying top resolve this and at no point did they mention that. What an utter waste of time then and a completely self-defeating promotion.

·3 months agoI agree @overexposure-2009 , terrible user experience in the app. At least with the website you can bookmark a different landing page, without the intrusion of eBay Live, but in the app there is now nothing of use to me on the home tab, without having to scroll down multiple times (count twelve) before reaching my Recently Viewed items. It's visually too busy and completely irrelevant, especially when logged in to the app from my business account. Thankfully it's just one tap to My eBay or Selling!

·3 months agoI agree it's absolute bull *bleep*. It's only just started today on my app and already I'm *bleep* off. I've tried everything I know to stop it but can't. Totally irrelevant *bleep* that makes e bay a *bleep*e site to use now . Looks like I'll be using it less unfortunately. Which is a shame

·3 months agoTotally agree. My feed this morning is a guy pimping (probably fake) Louis Vitton trainers against the clock and ten categories of Ebay live garbage. User experience totally ruined.

·3 months agoIt’s live again today and was a real shock when I opened the app to check on some items I have for sale. I clicked on the main stream by accident and it was a terrible presentation reminiscent of “The Apprentice” TV selling task.
…and it wouldn’t go away!
and don’t get me started on the “simple delivery”… 😡

·4 months agoeBay's homepage advertising has become ridiculous. It's just a wall of noise now, so crammed and cluttered it puts you off browsing it.
So lately I've started to enter eBay not via the homepage. I use pages that have few adverts - amazingly, for now anyway, there are plenty to choose from.
It means that when I do browse the adverts, it's my choice and I'm more likely to buy.
eBay, less is more!

·7 months agoeBay insult people's intelligence by giving us "Simple Delivery" and "Buyer Protection Fee's", and I haven't used eBay since it started for Buying or Selling(April), and then they try and tempt me back in by constantly sending me messages about some ridiculous "Live Auction" that i have no interest in whatsoever..... !! eBay tell me they have "Listened to Me"...... But it seems to have gone straight over their heads, that all I wan,t is to sell or buy obscure and weird/rare CDs and Records and DVDs for a reasonable price, and to be able to communicate with the Buyer or Seller like a human being..... Boy, is my finger not on the pulse of eBay management..... !!!

·5 months agoThere is no way to turn off Live on an iPhone. The advice you’ll get about trying it involves turning off buttons on the site that don’t exist. Save yourself frustration and don’t even try
