Problem with seller fees
Summary: darkangel182 is seeking advice on settling a £16 debt for eBay's seller fees, as the platform isn't successfully debiting their account. silas06 suggests calling eBay directly and bypassing the automated system to reach an agent. fargvs provides a link for a one-time payment option, but darkangel182 explains difficulties with existing payment methods. tressygirl advises contacting customer services as soon as possible to avoid debt collectors, suggesting using specific tactics to reach a live agent.
OK, for reasons I won't bore you with, I owe Ebay £16 for seller fees (awkward story).
They seem unable to debit my bank account, or debit card and keep asking me to make a one-time payment.
Trouble is, the only options to pay, seem to be the existing payment methods I already have registered with them.
I don't have another card to register, which seems to be the only other option, and there doesn't seem to be any obvious way of contacting customer support.
They've been emailing me these automated reminders every so often, though I'm not sure what else I'm supposed to do about it. But now they're threatening to send in a collection agency.
So, any ideas on how to resolve this before the bailiffs come knocking?

·3 weeks agoYou need to contact CS asap as they will send debt collectors if this is not paid.
They do not answer with phone numbers, and Contacting eBay Customer Services I admit, is not easy nowadays to get a live agent , but some have had success using the app, otherwise keep typing in ' I wish to speak to an agent' and this too can work.
Use a phone not a laptop here.
Use this link to contact CS, if you can try at 8 a.m. on a weekday morning also more chance there for Dublin to answer.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5190
Lines open between 8 a.m. to10 p.m. on weekdays.
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.

·3 weeks agoHave you tried deleting the card and re-adding it? I'm not sure if eBay allows you to delete a card if it is the only one registered to the account; if you can't delete and re-add it then you need to contact eBay from this page. You might end up chatting with a bot - if you do just keep typing "speak to an agent" until you are connected to one. Sometimes there is an option to request a call back on that page; if that option isn't there you will have to chat to the bot until it puts you through to an agent.
eBay uses a Direct Debit mandate to debit funds from your bank account; if you haven't paid any money to eBay for a while your bank may have automatically cancelled the mandate which would explain why eBay can't debit the funds from your bank account. However, that doesn't explain why they can't take a one-time payment via your debit card.

OP3 weeks agoThey already have my debit card and bank details, but seem unable to debit them, despite the fact I use them regularly to pay for items on the site.

·Jul 13, 2026 at 8:59 PMI have spoken to eBay several times recently and found them to be helpful. Call them on 020 8080 2105. The wait time can vary, but it's not too long. Don't try to converse too much with the automated system; just keep answering its questions with "Speak to Agent". It will eventually tell you that it doesn't understand and that it's putting you through to an agent.
