Adding a buy it now price
hi, i am selling an item and i want to add a buy it now price, but the auction wont let me. How can i add in a buy it now price as someone wants to buy it now. thanks

·1 month ago · EditedMaybe consider setting up an auction with a Buy It Now price as a more frequent tool? I think buyers quite like having the option, well, those buyers who happen on an auction while the option is there i.e. before anyone's bid! I know some buyers use software to notify them the nanosecond a listing goes live that matches their pre-set search parameters. At times I've done that manually and been lucky enough to get to an auction very soon after it goes live.
Sellers might earn more and/or sell more quickly. It might also avoid dealing with would-be buyer messages.
I've noticed one or two buyers take the BIN option, and I've done it myself several times both to make sure it's me who gets the item (and save my nerves) and not to have to wait up to, say, 7 days for the auction to end. Items might be just what I need for a current project, so I'm willing to pay and thus also receive it soon.
Obviously this affects the early stage of an auction because, as per @sml192 , the BIN option automatically disappears when someone bids.
I believe it doesn't cost a seller any more in eBay fees solely to add BIN to an auction, so there shouldn't be a financial penalty to doing it (or that's how I interpret the help page). ·1 month agoIn case people don't want to read the site's help page, there's the following in it, which was news at least to me:
"The Buy It Now price is available until someone bids on the item or until the reserve price is met.
In certain categories, Buy It Now disappears only after 50% of the Buy It Now price is reached through bidding [list of categories given]..."

·1 month agoYou can't add a 'Buy it now' price if there are already bids on the auction. Your buyer will have to bid along with everyone else. If they become the highest bidder then there is an option to sell straightaway to the highest bidder.
