Is eBay responsible or am I?
Summary: qurvyqueen shared a problem with eBay regarding a returned item being sent to an old address that was no longer valid. Despite updating their information two years prior, eBay's system generated the wrong address, leading to a financial loss of £80. papso22 advised that all addresses should be kept up-to-date on eBay, but qurvyqueen affirmed they had done so. fargvs suggested checking address settings on eBay's website. qurvyqueen considered filing a formal complaint if the issue remains unresolved.
I’ve been using eBay for 19 years and in that time have had 4 addresses. The 2nd address is in Bristol and I moved north two years ago and changes my address with eBay then. Last month a buyer returned an item worth £80. EBay generated the Bristol address for the return (an address I haven’t used for two years). So I did not receive my return. I called eBay customer service who said it’s my responsibility so I should refund the buyer so I did. EBay is not being helpful at all even though I used simple delivery and the buyer used their automated return label. I have made a complaint and spoken to customer service about 5 times. What do I do? I want my £80.

·3 weeks agoYou are responsible for keeping all 5 addresses in your ebay account up to date.
That includes one specifically for returns.

OP3 weeks agoI think my only option is to make a formal complaint and FCA if I get no joy.
