FORMAL COMPLAINT
Summary: jenni6287 expressed frustration with eBay's Simple Postage service, stating they've faced repeated issues with undelivered items and tracking problems, leading to financial losses. Despite assurances from eBay's assistant, jenni6287 claims they were unfairly charged for refunds and incurred additional postage costs. jonatjonatjonat suggested that sending replacements might have complicated the situation and emphasized that forum complaints aren't formal grievances. jenni6287 decided to stop using eBay due to these persistent issues.
OKAY, THIS IS WHY EBAY SELLERS ARE STILL LEAVING IN DROVES.
They've done this to me 4 times in the last 2 months. Sent a parcel using their Simple Postage service, expecting both and buyer and seller protection. Then I get a message saying it's not been delivered so I contact the buyer and tell them I'll buy another postage label at my own expense and send another through to them again at my expanse.
Buyer is obviously happy and then when I try to update the tracking number, eBay's system fails.
I then spend hours out of the day trying to work something out with eBay and they usually tell me just to go ahead and send it and I wont lose my money nor will the buyer be refunded.
Outcome: They refund my buyer, who now has at least one of the items, taking the money out of my balance and I get stuck with two more postage costs.
My decision to eBay: Cleared all my fund out today. Never selling on your platform again.
This is part of a chat reanscript of it happening yesterday with a £50 videophone. Two phones down, 2 postage labels down. Cost to me: £108. Cost to eBay? None.
Disgraceful abuse of your sellers.
Again I've attached the transcript below: notice what ebay said --- "eBay Assistant:I have reviewed few details, as the label is via simple delivery so you can not add tracking, but you do not need to worry, just share the tracking with buyer via eBay messages, then you will fully protected."

·3 weeks agoTo prevent this happening again--- Refunds should only be made after an appropriate case is opened by the Buyer and processed/ completed through eBay.

·3 weeks agoWith simple delivery you do get protection in the event something is lost in post if the buyer opens that case. You should keep funds and the buyer gets a refund.
However there is no need to send replacements and that is what could have messed things up. But it depends what cases have been opened here.
In future just don’t send replacements.
