why does Ebay persist with using Evri (formerly Hermes)
Summary: A participant commented that waiting for a parcel from a specific delivery service is tedious, questioning why an online marketplace continues to use them. Responses were primarily exchanges without specific content covering experiences or solutions.
So every single parcel I have ordered via Ebay has been delivered to a neighbour who is elderly and recovering from cancer. After the eighth occasion and after going round in circles with an auto-bot clearly intent on avoiding passing me onto a real person, I was finally advised they would ensure it won't happen again. Yet here I am, three mis-delivered items further and Evri, as usual, simply pass the buck to the seller or myself. Ebay, Evri are diabolical so why on earth do you use them? I am no longer shopping on Ebay, it's too unreliable

·6 months agoAnything sent to my address with Evri goes through exactly the same frustratingly predictable process. All is well until it reaches Perth, then it just sits there for a week or so and gets returned to sender.
I used to think this was a problem with my address, but it turns out that where I live is so remote that no one wants to do this round.
I tell sellers this and sometimes they are helpful, though often they retreat into the usual protestations of "Well, I've never had a problem with them, so you must be lying".
Then there's that other group of sellers to contend with, the growing number who list Royal Mail as postage, and then send with Evri anyway. I've had six of those so far.
They do it because: a) They known that sellers are less likely to buy if they advertise the fact that they use the worst rated courier in the UK, and b) Ebay won't do a thing about it if they get caught, so the very most they risk is some negative feedback (and they can get rid of that via 'Ebay for Business').
It's just another frustrating layer in the screening process to try and weed out scammers.
Search for items, screen out non-UK items, ignore sponsored items, look for obvious fake AI listings, check 'About' to make sure they aren't really in China, check postage options for 'Evri'.
My goodness shopping with ebay is a pain these days, it's not fun, not at all. It's become less about shopping and more about avoiding the huge numbers of people trying to rip you off.
Worst of all, Ebay won't do a damn thing about it, as long as they get their money they don't care how bad it gets for the customer and, given the way they talk about buyers with such naked disdain, neither do the sellers.

·1 year agoI pay to have something delivered to my door, not have to go to collect it. Yes, Amazon and RM leave the parcels but at least they are left (never had one go missing), unfortunately some e bay couriers (and ours is one) will not deliver to anywhere they deem unsuitable, i.e. anywhere off the main road.

·1 year agoI no longer use ebay because of evri. Evri's idea of delivering a parcel is if no one is in to leave it on the doorstep or on the grass in the garden. When you come to claim evri insist that it was delivered and you don't get a penny back on what you bought because its good enough for ebay. Shame on both of you

I've had 2 beautiful plants delivered "dead" they were tossed and thrown around and worse they were marked "Fragile Handle with care This side up" and it made no difference. I now ask sellers not to send with Evri and they are happy to oblige as they are having dreadful problems with them. Ebay know all about it but they are not doing anything to change it. I've just about had enough with them now if Ebay listened to its customers they would stop using them immediately. Marion

·1 year agoI have sent close on 1000 parcels with EVRi, and had problems with only three of them. I received no-hassle compensation for all of them - full cost of the item plus shipping. All parcels have been delivered promptly with no complaints from the buyers.
Royal Mail have delivered a significant number of packages very late - up to six weeks late. I've lost count of the number of replacements I've sent out. Their claims process is tortuous and the compensation is limited to the actual cost of the item.
I'd given up claiming because it was just too much bother. However, when a £70 T48 item was misdelivered, I claimed. It was obvious from the image that it was the wrong house, and the buyer sent me the Google street view of a house 20 miles away that has the same road name - and that house matched the image.
Despite the evidence, RM just gaslighted me through a dozen emails until the claim timed out. Even if they had admitted liability, they would only have paid the cost of the item, and certainly wouldn't have paid the cost of sending the replacement special delivery.
RM doesn't get my vote.
kath3735_wxmjn
·1 year agoLucky you! Not one of my parcels via RM (as a buyer or seller) have disappeared or been damaged and they may take a few days longer than anticipated to arrive but it has never been longer than a week. Our local EVRI courier picks and chooses who he delivers to and anyone not on the main road system can forget it! I live up a farm track and like others in a similar position you can forget any deliveries from them but he also manages to avoid delivering to anyone who lives in the village but lives behind others, too much effort to find them! I know people who have a different courier who have different stories but the point is that EVRI are supposed to be providing a service and they are not. RM have a duty to deliver to everyone everywhere. I may also add that we have never had a problem with ANY OTHER delivery courier/company.

·2 years agoFully understand. I've been waiting for a painting I purchased for my mother's birthday. I spent many hours trying to find just the right one and It was sent on the 9th July and tracked to the Evri National hub on the 10th and then vanished!!! It's now the 22nd and nobody seems to really care. A fairly large painting, fully addressed and labelled yet no sign of it!!! One would expect Evri to perhaps put out a shout to all depots and parcel shops with the order number or simply my address details and yet no, that appears to be too much trouble in this digital age. Very disappointing and frustrating and in future I will ensure I do not purchase any items using their service unless I can get the seller to change - as for the painting I am still hoping it's found although it's difficult to understand how it was lost??? ·2 years agoThat is very sad, and I do hope it turns up soon, but I'm afraid that in my experience it is typical of Evri. I won't use them - if they are listed as the courier I always ask if Royal Mail is possible instead, and nine times out of ten, the seller agrees to send via them.
Just lately I have noticed that an item has been listed as dispatched via Evri; I have contacted the seller with my usual query only to be told, "Evri? I never use them! I always send via the Royal Mail!"
Is this an ebay "cunning plan" to give the impression that more sellers are using the diabolical Evri than actually are?

·2 years agoEvri is the worst, I am always worried when a seller decides to use them. My latest purchase was supposed to be delivered yesterday but of course it's not left my local depot. Every day it's delayed is another day they could damage it or even lose it. Why given that there are other options people choose the worse possible currier is beyond comprehension.
cantisque
·2 years agoBecause it's often the cheapest option and most customers are too stingy to pay extra for a better service.
That and 99% of the time there's no issue so long as the item is packed properly.
Also very easy to get compensated for lost/destroyed packages (through Packlink). They somehow destroyed one I sent last year and I'd been compensated in full within 4 hours. With Royal Mail it took over a month to sort out the same thing.

·2 years agoNo, EVRi's not the worst. My FedEx International Priority Express parcel, weight around one kilo, shipping cost $62, is on a world-wide tour.
An emergency order, so my supplier shipped on Saturday May 18. Delivery was scheduled for Wednesday. Parcel arrived in Birmingham on Tuesday, out for delivery on Wednesday. Didn't arrive. The delivery date was updated to Tuesday May 28. It's Priority Express, cost $62, and they can't deliver to an address within five miles of the depot any earlier than Tuesday?
Late on Thursday the parcel arrived in Delhi. The delivery date was updated to 'On the Way'. On Friday, it had made its way to Dubai, still 'On the Way'.
Saturday, it made landfall at Stanstead. It's still 'On the Way', but on the way to where? New York? The Falklands?
I hope the supplier packed it well. It's had a tough journey.

I won't go so far as to say cheapskates who don't care about quality, only saving a penny here or there, but I know of one like that who is an actual millionaire but total cheapskate and it's really annoying when he has more money than many of us can dream of but some of us do value quality over cheapness but yes, always a worry when sellers use Evri, I'm having problems now with two orders both coming via Evri, should have arrived last week, usual comments about delays, tracking gone quiet etc. Ironical thing is Evri charges more to send to my area, Royal Mail aren't perfect but no problems from them usually.

·6 months agoThat's the wrong company, you've posted a listing for a US company named Everi, which makes gaming machines.
The courier company is called Hermes Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of The Otto Group (Otto GmbH & Co. KGaA). They only trade as 'Evri' in the UK, due to their tarnished reputation here.
The only link I could find between eBay and Hermes concerned an investment firm named 'Federated Hermes' which was previously an investor in eBay. I can find no evidence that eBay has ever owned an interest in Hermes Europe GmbH or its parent company.

Advent International acquired a 75% stake in Hermes UK in 2020 with Otto GmbH retaining the other 25%. Private equity firm Apollo Global Management then acquired both stakes in 2024. As a result Evri Limited and Hermes Europe are now completely separate.

Ebay can't really pick and choose what couriers are used by sellers, because if you find 100 people who buy or sell on here, every single one will have had an issue with one courier at some point. Are Evri worse than others, maybe they are, maybe they aren't, it depends who you ask 😉

·2 years agoMy 'big issue' with this is when the person says sending by one means and then sending by another. If the seller says courier then i can check and see which ones they are likely to use, EVRI is the only one that is a no for me. Why should someone have to have things delivered elsewhere just because the seller cannot tell the truth on the listed item? How difficult is it to choose courier, many do already. If the buyer wants to follow up and find which courier or if they will deliver RM then they can do so (and i have done just that in the past for items i really needed).

·2 years agoI'm with you on this... with 34000 parcels going missing and 16,800 complaints about the delivery company compared to 419 complaints made about Royal Mail (as of Dec23), surely these stats should be giving eBay signals to get rid of Evri (formerly Hermes).
In the past I have been a victim of theft when Evri (formerly Hermes) delivered an empty box. Fortunately the Police were involved and I received my money back.
As my mum used to say "Good things no Cheap...Cheap things no good" so until eBay stops trading with Evri (formerly Hermes) or whatever they change their name to next time, sadly we have to request the seller not to send via this courier.
silveroboe
·2 years agoThis is one of my main complaints - if sellers say they are using Royal Mail, then use Evri, as far as I am concerned they are being deliberately misleading and less than truthful.
Much as I deplore ebay's persistent tinkering and interference, I feel strongly that it's time sellers were compelled to be truthful about the courier they intend to use.
If I see "other courier" in a listing I always enquire which one will be used, and if it is the dreaded and diabolical Evri, and the seller says there is no alternative, then I look elsewhere for the item.
abtrade09
·2 years agoEvri are the biggest parcel delivery company in the UK; might give you a clue why they can be selected on eBay .
As a seller I have used them hunfreds of times without a problem. I can drop off items from 6am to 10pm at two local drop off points with nearly always no queueing.
Compare that to the post office which is only open from 9am to 3pm i.e. while most people are at work, and with queues out the door. Plus RM are fussy on parcel size as well as weight making the whole RM experience a complete pain.
kath3735_wxmjn
·2 years agoyou state that you use EVRI so that is not a problem for people like myself who do not want items sent via them. You would have a problem if you sent to my address because the local courier does not deliver to any out of the way places but usually says no one in etc. Strangely enough one of my family members got a parcel from EVRI last week (item was supposed to be via other means) but it was apparently because the courier was sick...... Talk about lucky! I will add that i post all my items via RM and have never (so far)) had a problem with the item not being delivered, not had any late delivery feedback either. Then again i am a private seller and do my shopping in town on the days that i may have to post items so not an effort.
cantisque
·2 years agoFor my listings, I put everything down with free shipping with "Other 3-5 day courier" as the option so I can pick whatever I feel is appropriate for the specific item.
I usually use Evri to send lower value items that are larger than letters (low enough value to fit into the standard compensation). Also I wouldn't use Evri if the item was fragile. I've seen some horrific delivery proof photos for some things I've sent with them!
For those that want to use RM, I also offer tracked 24 option for an additional £1.
For when things go wrong, it's so much easier to claim compensation from Packlink on an Evri order than it is to get it from Royal Mail. Not only is the process much easier, but the last time Evri lost a package I had the compensation approved by Packlink in 4 hours, whereas with Royal Mail it took them 40 days to reply!
TLDR; offer an alternative to the cheapest possible shipping. There are customers out there who'd rather pay a little extra if it means not going with Evri.
Also, any seller that uses a different service than the one they promised in the listing deserves a strike, IMO.
kath3735_wxmjn
·2 years agoyou are the voice of common sense! That is all i actually want from a seller, to know exactly how they despatch, if it is a courier i can at least get in contact and ask or choose the higher postal charge for RM, if i really want the item rather than the two months + of getting e mails from EVRI saying different things. Luckily the buyer refunded me immediately i put in a claim (as soon as i could) but if they still had the parcel he did not!
silveroboe
·2 years agoEvri are diabolical here, and I never use them. If I see items I wish to bid on or purchase, and the delivery is "other courier" then I always ask the sellers which courier they will be using, and if it is possible to send via Royal Mail or another courier - nine times out of ten the problem is resolved.
If it can't be, and the seller can only use Evri because he or she has an account with them etc., then I reply politely that I understand their position, and look elsewhere.
I have also come across Evri listed as the delivery option, only to have the seller reply that he or she never uses Evri! This has happened more than once, so I suppose that might be down to ebay.
If, like me, you definitely don't want deliveries from Evri, then it's worth taking a few minutes to contact the seller and enquire about possible alternatives.

·2 years agoIn an ideal world I would love to send everything Royal Mail tracked 24 and support Royal Mail but we are being squeezed so much. Postage costs are going up, eBay can be quiet so we sometimes send offers on things that a few years ago we wouldn't as another buyer was around the corner. This is just a different perspective to throw out there, sellers are really struggling and a small ish saving on postage each time quickly adds up.

·2 years agoAs a buyer i have had so many items turn up broken when delivered by Evri. They must literally throw parcels around with no respect for the contents. Also very unreliable.

·2 years agoI think they have improved. I have been packaging pottery and glassware for somebody recently to help them out, we have checked each evri delivery confirmation picture and the boxes look like they did when we took them to a parcelshop. ·2 years agoYou should see the way Parcelforce throw parcels around the back of their vans - it see it outside my home.
In main parcel depots I imagine everything just travels along conveyor belts and likely drop on the floor all the time.
Whichever courier or postal service is used, one has to assume parcels are lobbed around - it's part and parcel (excuse the pun! 😄 )
People just need to ensure their items are properly packaged to ensure the items inside don't get damaged.

·2 years agoAs a seller, it would depend on the manner and approach. If a potential buyer messaged me in a courteous manner and explained that they have an issue with their local Evri courier, or their postie, and asked who I use, I might be prepared to use a different courier to make a sale.
technthread
·2 years agoI agree. My free postage is 'other 48 hour courier' to give me leeway. I'll use RM tracked 48 if asked but in general sellers should be trusted to use an appropriate courier, we don't want late, damaged or lost parcels either. 99.9% of buyers do not care who delivers their parcel, this subject gets blown out of proportion on this forum.
kath3735_wxmjn
·2 years agonot blown out of proportion, if you put 48hour courier then fair enough i then at least have the knowledge that it is not a particular one and i would (if i really wanted the item) get in touch. However, when someone says they post by RM i expect them to do just that. Sellers can give all the excuses they want but if you offer one type of post then you should stick to it. As someone who does not get EVRI deliveries because the courier will not come here then i am certainly not happy when the seller goes against what they say. Whether the seller got the item back the last time i do not know or care. I got my refund and went out and bought the item in town, not the one i really wanted but was not prepared to go through that farce again. It is not my job as a buyer to have to message 'just in case', it is the sellers job to give accurate information.
technthread
·2 years agoThat's understandable, sellers shouldn't be changing the courier from RM to Evri without checking. I think a lot of private sellers just forget what they have put down as the postage especially if the item has been up for sale for a while..
eBay customer services told me once that they don't view a courier change dimly as long as the delivery speed is the same.
I think a lot do it other way round (change from evri to RM) when they realise the buyer is based in a location where evri charge more than double the price (Northern Ireland etc) and the postage charged to the buyer doesn't cover the actual cost.
I have considered explaining my free postage in my descriptions to make it clear I'll use who I see fit but figured that it is overkill to justify it as the buyer can always select RM if they want at checkout and pay a bit more. Nobody really seems to do it, the last one of mine was someone who paid extra for RM Special Delivery at Xmas 2022.

·2 years agoIf choice of carrier is important to you, then you will have to message the seller each time.
My postage method is set to RM48, but I use the most appropriate carrier for the weight and value of the shipment and the current performance of the carrier. This means the shipment will be despatched via RM24, RM48, T24, T48, Special Delivery, EVRi or DHL.
My shipments range from 11g letters to parcels weighing several kilos, values from £3 to £100+. I can't specify in advance which carrier will be used.

·2 years agoIn that case choose the option 'Other courier'. It's misleading if you state one courier and use another.
floral.lines.supplies
·2 years agoYes, because it's not always possible to use that carrier due to many things like weight and size. A seller may have 300plus parcels to post a day and either be doing it alone or with the smallest team, they may not be able to message every customer when there is a change.
When I was posting 300 plus LL a day plus parcels, it was a 16hr working day. sometimes without a lunchtime.
However, my couriers are DPD ( large parcels) or UPS (small parcels) when RM won't handle my parcels.

·1 year agoThis is exactly what happened to me. Evri are diabolical here, and if the listing shows Evri, I always ask a seller if it is poaaible to send via Royal Mail.
I ordered an item the other day, listed as Royal Mail, went to 'my ebay purchase history' to leave feedback last night and saw the item had been delivered! My first reaction was 'oh no, it hasn't!'
I was at home all day, and the postman had already called, so I was somewhat baffled. Then I saw that the item had been sent via Evri!! Where was it? On my front doorstep, where Evri always leave things - if they leave them at all.
The Evri individual couldn't be bothered to ring the perfectly obvious doorbell, just dumped the parcel on the front step on a main road.
It's time this "different courier from listing" nonsense was stopped - I feel dreadful that when a seller lists something as Royal Mail, I find myself virtually having to enquire if they are telling the truth. That is not good.
I feel like leaving negative feedback on the grounds that this item was not correctly listed. Am I being unreasonable? I just don't know. I do know I am thoroughly fed up with this happening.

·1 year agoA lot of sellers put 'other courier,' though, due to eBay giving buyers unrealistic delivery times if they specify a service.
eBay give buyers the expectation that an order will be delivered next day if 1st class is used, or that it will be delivered on the following day if 2nd class is used - whereas, in actual fact, they are NOT guaranteed services and even Royal Mail state on ALL their services (including Special Delivery) "Delivery aim". They 'aim' to deliver in 2-3 days for 2nd class, they 'aim' to deliver next day for SD, etc.

·1 year agoThat's a semantics phraseology thing with Royal Mail Special Delivery as it's guaranteed for 1pm or your money back. The other services are not time guaranteed.

·1 year agoit depends on how much i want the item as to what action i take if i see 'other courier'. If it is just an impulse/not important item i will just forget it. If it is something i really want i will get in touch with the seller and find out who they are using.

·2 years agoHi - i have had problems with Evri delivery
There is something seriously wrong.
Evri's poor sevice is causing considerable stresses between buyers and sellers thereby damaging ebay's reputation as a trusted service
No-one wants to claim moneyback - we would much rather have the goods ordered in good faith delivered in accordance with the contract.
kath3735_wxmjn
·2 years agoto be honest you are the one to blame if you are ordering from people who use EVRI and you know there is a problem with them. I do not because our local courier is useless and the RM in this area has always been brilliant. The down side is when some idiot seller says RM and then sends EVRI.

·2 years agoI've never sent any of my orders with Evri; only Royal Mail. You should send a message to sellers before you order and if they ignore you, I don't think they deserve your business.
As for whether Evri should be offered at all, I think they should because I've seen some social media posts saying that RM is bad in their area and their local Evri driver is good; there's no one-size-fits-all solution. I recently had a "first class" delivery take about 10 days with RM.
So I'll send with whomever a customer asks me to so long as they are willing to pay the cost but unfortunately, no-one ever asks me (they just tend to let me send by the default economy second class and then afterwards contact me to say their order is urgent...).
Maybe your neighbour would let you put a sign on or near their door?

·3 years agoWhy do eBay offer Evri as an option? They probably got the best deal with them.

·3 years agoYes, in the drive to be cheap the cheap couriers are cheap but in my view not good enough overall.
As the recipient you didn't purchase the label from the courier so don't have a contract with them. If they fail to carry out their contractual duty (safe delivery of parcel) you can't sue them - which is the bottom line if no customer service available.
I agree that EVRI, like the other cheap couriers, tend to have underpaid/overworked drivers in a rush so they will take shortcuts and make mistakes. Compensation on items is low so items don't seem to be treated that well. Other side of it is that they deliberately make their customer services hard to access to save cost, and it is only really available for loss or damage claims, they don't want to hear any feedback/complaint that delivery to neighbour wasn't correct choice etc.
I used EVRI a bit in the past as a seller, I don't now and would only advise their use for items of minimal value that can be replaced and where they are significantly cheaper than better options (such as DPD, Royal Mail Tracked). That's not many items in my view. Other sellers report good experiences with them though. I think the local delivery driver is a big factor - some are good and some not. As a buyer I get items from delivered by EVRI, my local EVRI driver normally does a decent job (I did once have to stop him handing over several parcels for a different address).
eBay sellers choose which courier they use, out of eBay's control. Some sellers will state one courier then use another (mostly individual/private sellers), so even checking that before purchase isn't enough to be sure what you'll get.
The best option may be to use eBay click & collect to a local shop. Or if the seller doesn't offer click & collect, use another seller. That way whatever courier is used doesn't matter to you, and the courier driver will always find the shop open.

OP3 years agoI'll add that: yes, I know it is the seller and not Ebay who picks them. My question was, with such a bad reputation, why are they even an option? And I am not away when they deliver, I am usually here working at my desk then my elderly neighbour turns up, having walked up the steep steps in heavy rain, to do Evri's job for them. They also dumped another neighbour's delivery outside the same house. I guess "High Bank" and "Fern Bank" must look just like "Hasselt Cottage". The drivers always take a photo which clearly ha the wrong house name on it yet they carry on dumping. They also have my mobile number so I can walk to the main road to show them where I live but haven't once called to check.

OP3 years agoI try not to and contact sellers asking them to pick another option but am sometimes either too late or they ignore me. I also tried getting deliveries to my parents' address instead and Evri couldn't even find them! My query was why Ebay offers Evri as an option when they are notoriously bad - one MP asked Sunak to investigate them after 40,000 complaints! And there is zero customer care or support. When I asked for their complaints procedure, they blocked me! They don't even appear to have one. So while I do my best to avoid Evri, I order a lot of things on Ebay and can't always ensure another option is picked.

·3 years agoso why do you keep on buying things from sellers who use EVRI? The local courier will not come up our farm track (not a problem to the rest of the world though as everyone else manages to deliver) and after the first couple of attempts trying to get hold of EVRI (Hermes as it was then) and getting nowhere with them we now just check on delivery and if it is something we really want then we contact the seller to see if they can send any other way. Most do but some would rather loose the sale and stick with EVRI, that is up to them, we just find another firm.
twofourdeltasurplus
·3 years agoor maybe if it happens all the time add a note to your orders to add a save place, you have not come back to say if you were in or not, thats another thing.
If in then its the person delivering on your route being lazy, going to the closet door to the road or something like that.
I have sent over 30k parcels with them and had very few problems.
angieflange
OP3 years agoit isn't about a safe place, they already have that. The problem is they can't be bothered to actually find my house as it's tucked away behind another one so they dump my parcels there, with a resident recovering from cancer, and the dumping ground is right next to an A road so either get stolen, broken or soaked.

·2 years agoPerhaps the easiest thing would be to have a nice little sign made stating something like 'number 3 at top of steps' or whatever it is, and fix it outside your neighbour's property. Many properties which are behind others have these types of signs. It will likely be useful in the future, anyway, not just for Evri.

·3 years agoI fail to see what this has to do with ebay? You should have contacted the seller after the first few times it happened and made sure they provided tracking so you would know when to be in when it was going to be delivered.
angieflange
OP3 years agoI fail to see why you responded in such a condescending and rude tone. Try reading my query properly before passing comment, this isn't about me being in or not or tracking, I am not an idiot - they are simply not bothering to find me. So yeh, not remotely helpful but thanks!

·3 years agoThat is the worst of example of ebay customer services promising something they can't deliver, that I have ever heard.
EBay has absolutely no control over which courier a seller uses.
angieflange
OP3 years agono but my question is - why does Ebay even offer Evri as a choice when they are known for being so useless? So far, all I have is people making stupid comments about tracking or "well I've had no problem" which relate in no way to what I said.

·3 years agoIs it going to your neighbour because you are out? If so, where do Royal Mail delivery to in the same situation?
angieflange
OP3 years agono, I am in. They just don't bother heading up the 10 steps or so to my house but dump it outside my neighbour's drive where they get damaged, stolen or soaked. They have my front porch recorded as the safe place but don't even get that far. Royal Mail and other couriers don't struggle, just Evri. They were dire as Hermes too. My issue isn't just the cr*p delivery - it's the impossibility of speaking with a real person and trying to resolve the issue. Lots of negative comments in reply to my query but not a single one telling me how to complain formally and good luck finding out! There's nothing on their website, the chatbot is useless and they don't appear to be regulated by anybody or have a formal complaints procedure in place. The last person I actually managed to reach blocked me when I asked!

·3 years agoI'm pretty sure most couriers would try a neighbour if you are out. If you are usually out could you not arrange to have your item sent to a Click and Collect (if the seller offers) or to a friend/relative who is likely to be in?
Personally, I find a much higher success rate with items delivered by the due date, to the correct place than I do with RM.
angieflange
OP3 years agoI am not "out" when they dump my stuff elsewhere. Please re-read my issue. Yes, I tried getting them to deliver to my (elderly) parents too and guess what, couldn't find them either!(big house, next to main road in tiny hamlet).

·3 months agoyou obviously dont live in the sticks. I have been told by the local courier they dont get paid enough for a 12 mile round trip to drop something at my postbox so say they cannot find me and return to sender. 2 weeks later I get a refund andhave to start again. I never use evri but more and more these days I find senders say they use royal mail but then use evri/hermes.

·3 years agoI always use Evri. Touch wood, I have never had the slightest problem. Recently had a parcel weighing 16.5Kgs, so Evri would not carry it. Went to Parcel2Go and picked DPD. Never again. Apparently, DPD only collect from the drop off location when and if they feel like it. So my parcel sat gathering dust for three days. Customer unhappy. Me, unhappy. Was supposed to be a 24hr service. I think that any courier service, is only as good as the delivery person at the end of the process.
