Well.....Here`s another new problem!
Summary: selective_distribution shares their frustration with a system issue where they received a 'Combined order' notification, despite only having one item in stock, and were incorrectly credited for another seller's item. Customer service was initially unhelpful but later explained the error, attributing it to a purchase made by the buyer within a 3-hour window. cobwebcottage and abrahamtoast also express dissatisfaction with the system, citing communication errors and delays that complicate their selling experiences.
I am puzzled when I receive an order from a buyer, and the system informs me that I have a Combined order. I cannot see any indication at my end that the buyer has ordered more than one item, and anyway I only have one of those items in stock. My seller page is also showing that I have only one item ordered from this buyer, but is telling me that postage has been adjusted to account for the combined order? I phone Customer service, there is a loud distortion on the line when the agent replies, and I inform them of this.....the Agent puts the phone down on me!
I try again......this time the Agent is helpful, but clearly has no idea what has happened, and so goes off to ask someone about it.....she comes back and tells me that the buyer has purchased two similar items, one from me, and one from another seller, both within the 3 hour window, and that both sales have been credited to MY account! So, not only does the other seller have no idea this has happened, but I am being paid for, and expected to send out, an item that I do not have, and I have no indication as to what that item is! The agent tells me to send my item as normal, and they will sort it out. What is this new Nightmare? Are we to start receiving combined orders from other sellers? How does the system even allow this to happen? I just hope that it`s a glitch in the system, and that they can fix it before we all all end up in a horrifying mess of combined orders.

·Aug 10, 2026 at 3:43 PMI think it's just another example of eBay trying to make a "one size fits all" email, and failing dismally.
I've received a couple recently, like the one shown below, headed "Ready to dispatch - be sure to group all 1 items", and helpfully telling me that my buyer has paid for their "1 items"; combined postage discounts have been applied, and I should group all 1 items into one package.
It is beyond incredible that a multinational entity could come up with such a pile of rubbish.

·Aug 10, 2026 at 7:45 AMI don't know what they are doing at the moment but it all seems to be one big mess.
I noticed yesterday, from my business account, that I had sold a dress on my private account. I swapped accounts and there was no sign of a sale. No e mail, message, notification at the top or anything in orders but in the sales graph, it showed the money had been paid.
I managed to speak to CS and they said that I will not get any details until the 3 hour window has passed in case the buyer wants to make another purchase.
It's all one big mess although your experience is worse than mine!
