Simple delivery item not at collection point?
Summary: daj_958297 sold an item using simple delivery, which was supposed to be collected by the buyer at a post office. Despite tracking showing delivery, the item couldn't be found. missdollydaydream and boundarycoins advised that eBay would refund the buyer and suggested ways to ensure the package's identification might help. Another participant recommended confirming the correct collection address as an error might have occurred. daj_958297 was unsure of the delivery address as it was handled via a QR code by the post office.
So I sold an item last week using simple delivery, sent it off the buyer had set up to collect at post office collection point. Item arrives buyer gets notified to go collect. He goes item not there can’t be found. He tried several times not there even though tracking says it is there, we communicate back and forward I advise to open an not received dispute he does it’s settled in my favour instantly as tracking shows delivered to collection point.
Can’t get through to Royal Mail, meanwhile my moneys on hold till godknows when and he has no items. Any advice on what we do?

·3 weeks agoIt might be an obvious suggestion but have you given them the address it was posted to. I have had a similar thing where it was claimed not delivered when tracking said it was, she was going to her local shop where Evri drops off and not the Post Office where it had been delivered to. People do sometimes get blinkered if they are used to collecting from a certain place.

OP3 weeks agoI don’t know where it was delivered tbh, it was a QR code, post office scanned it and stuck it on parcel

·3 weeks ago · EditedI had this recently. Let your buyer know what the packaging looks like and suggest they try again. With mine, it was there the first time and the post office had just overlooked it. Letting the buyer know it was in an orange mailing bag in my case was enough for him to see the thing on the shelf the moment he went back in.
People may remember a year or so ago I got help from the eBay community team as a corner shop denied they had my buyers parcel. The shop decided that because their machine wasn’t working it was better to tell them that the parcel was given straight back to the postman when it was hidden under the counter all along. That is an extreme case I doubt I will come across again but a lot can go wrong with these click and collects.
Try to be as helpful to buyer as you can, maybe extend that to ringing the place it got delivered to and enquire about it rather than contacting Royal Mail. Beyond that, ultimately with simple delivery it isn’t your problem the buyer will have to speak to eBay and convince them that a refund is due.

·3 weeks agoYou have nothing to worry about. Ebay will refund your buyer and you will get the sales value after eBay has held it for a few days..
