Simple Delivery
Summary: millcottage shared positive experiences with eBay's Simple Delivery service, highlighting how it efficiently resolved issues for both buyers and sellers in cases of lost or damaged items. However, nissanat pointed out limitations in the service, such as challenges with shipping non-standard items due to incorrect assumptions about size and weight, suggesting improvements to allow users to specify their own delivery needs and methods.
I’m a buyer and private seller on eBay and at first I thought simple delivery was a terrible idea.
But since having used it for a while I find it very useful.
As a seller an item went missing a few weeks back and it was a relief knowing that eBay would deal with whole thing.
The item arrived 9 days after sending via Evri.
As a buyer I bought an item that cost £139 a few weeks ago. Royal Mail failed to attempt delivery 5 times and eventually found time to deliver item where box was crushed and jug damaged.
Simple Delivery stepped in and I got a complete refund without having to return item.
So from a seller and buyer I think it’s now a great idea 👍

·2 weeks agoEbay delivery works for a lot of cases, but only if you are lucky enough that you are sending a really common item, then ebay 'guessess' the postal service correctly, it absolutely falls down if you have something that is longer or heavier than most other items in that cateogory. For example, you list a box of records in the records section but the system only knows what one records weighs, not a box of 50, then you cannot select the true weight and everything becomes a massive ballache They could fix this by changing two things:
1: Let people tell it what weight and size they need
2: let people use either own delivery method and be able to add the tracking easily.
