Shipping from UK to Canada for the first time
Hi, I just sold some books to a buyer in Canada and sending by UPS I've printed the shipping label and the commercial invoice, should there be a customs label and does the commercial invoice go inside the package or outside - it's not clear to me.
Would appreciate a quick answer please!

As far as I know, it is of my understanding that when there are commercial invoices to be completed/sent this is all to the receiving country authorities for pre clearance, pretty much what @c_of_e84 said above.
I understand that you want to get everything done and dusted before the buyer receives it to keep all good, which is really good. However, custom duties are ultimately the buyer's responsibility and would need to get it sorted with the local authorities, so at that point you've done everything you could've done.

OP1 month agoHi the label was bought though eBay and I filled out the customs document on the eBay app and it's given me the shipping label and commercial invoice.
I expected a customs declaration but there wasn't one - does the commercial invoice act as the customs declaration as it has a space for me to sign?

·1 month agoNot enough info to help, I have exported worldwide for over 25 years on my business ID and my own websites.
Where did you buy the label?
Did you complete the commercial invoice on the site you booked the parcel on?
On some sites the commercial invoice is sent electronically to Canada customs for pre clearance.
Its always a good idea to send 3 copies of the commercial invoice attached to the outside of the parcel in a clear documents enclosed envelope.
