send a list of problems \ issues with simple delivery
Summary: The discussion revolves around various issues users are experiencing with eBay's 'simple delivery' service. madmill77 reported receiving a damaged item and facing delays in eBay's response. chriscraftycurios expressed confusion after their listings were changed to 'free postage' without consent. mabr_339587 mentioned difficulties in printing delivery labels due to address errors, leading them to stop selling on eBay. zannie80 complained about being forced to pay higher delivery fees for small packages, which they feel unfairly impacts private sellers.
it seems my frustration with simple delivery is shared by many in here.
what can we do about it?
several ebay support team members have told me that they get complaints \ issues with simple delivery constantly... but, obviously there is NOTHING they can do about it...
... but, we can write to ebay and point out the problems it causes and express our dissatisfaction with its mandatory imposition; after all, if it was a genuine improvement we would all use it voluntarily.
without sellers ebay has NOTHING, without our products ebay makes ZERO money.
it is in thier interest to listen and improve this awful system.
i have written and listed my issues

·1 month ago@zannie80 I couldn't find a listing of yours that wasn't on custom postage, just sell similar and make sure you put in a price and select large letter. You can then use whatever RM postage you want.

·3 months agoAll my listings have been changed to free postage. I had them all set to buyer pays. I'm happy to use simple delivery, for me it is as it sais, simple. There is no way to bulk change to buyer pays despite it being Ebay that reset this option. If all my listings now say free postage does this mean simple delivery is no longer an option?
I'm confused about this, will it mean I have to remove all my listings and re list them?

·3 months agoOrdered an item off eBay which arrived damaged. Contacted seller who said the return was nothing to do with them as they was using simple delivery and to contact eBay which I did straight away. I have now been waiting 2 weeks for a response which is still pending what is happening with eBay it’s going down hill in my eyes and won’t be using again

·6 months agoSimple Delivery UK - Royal Mail postal rates -
I have items to post which need to be sent as a LARGE letter because of the thickness of the item. However, the items are light, and should come into the lowest price bracket. Large letter up to100g is not offered, only up to 1kg. It should cost £1.55 to post, not £2.70. eBay cannot possible know the correct weight of a absoilutely every item. We need to be able to enter the weight ourselves.

·6 months ago@tsneller What is it you want to post? Most things can now go custom postage if under £20. It depends on the category you use.

·6 months agoThe item I had an issue with today was a small PCMCIA USB adaptor card for a laptop. Only weighed 50g, but was 2cm thick.
eBay are also ignoring the fact that if we need to send something like a photo of of A4 size, that it has to be a LARGE letter, but will weigh almost nothing, and therefore should cost £1.55 not £2.70.
Unfortunately, if you use custom delivery, and the item is lost in the post, then eBay just wash their hands of the problem..

·1 year agoBrilliant thanks. I have been selling on ebay for 6 years and as a none to savvy pensioner found it OK to use. My wife worked in a Post Office so hunky dory. Then along came 'simple delivery' and what a con that is. I object to 1. Mandatory use 2. It does not allow for packaging costs 3. No longer having a simple P & P cost to my customers. Some of my items are still the old way and I put an item cost plus P&P but some are this awful simple delivery cost which to the buyer is lower and without any packing costs added, therefore out of my small profit. I will write a letter to your address provided. This is the first time I have ever answered or taken part in this sort of forum so apologise if it is too long or so.

·1 year agoYou could factor the cost of packaging into the cost of the item, which is what I'm doing - but sales will drop either way. Since eBay introduced this rip off system, sales across the board have dropped. Even AI acknowledges that it's not gone well.

·1 year ago@tebre-56 Good on you for giving a it a go. I wrote to Eve & Jamie via email. Email addresses are available on line. Someone from the executive team actually phoned me and we had a 10 minute or so chat whereby I felt that he was interested in the details behind the dislike of SD. My email highlighted, with screen shots, all the areas where SD makes it difficult: for disabled people who require collection; where the cost is prohibitive to sales where the opt outs are just not available (still) for very low priced small items; where people are uncomfortable using smartphones in shops to display QR codes are do not have smart phones or printers.
He told me that they were working on an opt out of SD "by application" which i took to mean for sellers with specific issues or long term accounts in good order.
I had one more email from them and now silence. The latest concession is not enough and I hope more people will do as you are doing because Ebay is not much fun any more!

·1 year agoYes, please let them know. eBay can't fix technical problems if people don't report them. In Seller Hub there are options to leave Feedback or Report a Technical Problem. To access these, click on the '?', and look under 'Let Us Know'.
Also if you experience a glitch when listing/revising an item, click on the '?' to give Feedback.
