Selling "holding tokens" for preorders
Summary: m1ckr1ck proposes selling "holding tokens" for vinyl record preorders due to long wait times. This approach would act as a receipt for customers, assuring them of their purchase until the records are available. They seek opinions from others, noting that similar methods have been used in other industries like gaming.
I sell vinyl records, many of which have long preorder times. This means I either have to wait a considerable time before listing new titles, or selling them early, and risk late postage strikes.
So I was wondering, would it be OK to sell "holding tokens"? These would be receipts for the items, which they would then receive when they are released. I can supply proof that the records have been ordered by me.
What are your thoughts on this? I know some people have been doing this for years with games consoles, games etc.

If its a pre-order - you would be buying it specifically to sell it, which is a trading activity. You'd need a Business Seller account - which would allow you to choose extended handling times.
