Seller fees re introduced by Ebay
Has anyone else been caught out by the Ebay selling fees?
I expected to pay for the optional advertising fee but both I, the seller and the buyer seem to each have been charged the buyer protection fee. This really means that free listing on Ebay no longer exists and we are in fact being charged a selling fee by another name.

·2 weeks agoEBay can you please stop this 3 hour wait after 5.30 pm, as we lose a early day collection, the next day, our postie won't collect unless they have a label, which they bring, on collection day, this 3 hour caper has not been thought through.

·2 weeks ago@1_big_garage_sale You're not required to hold off on dispatching an order while waiting for this 3 hour window to pass. If a transaction has been paid for and finalised, you can proceed to print shipping labels.

·2 weeks ago · EditedYou can still print label/get QR code in the normal way if you don't wish to wait so in theory you should still be able to book a collection aswell.

·2 weeks agoI can see why you believe that sellers pay a Buyer Protection Fee; your last item sold on the 14th was sold via a Best Offer. When the buyer makes an offer it's the price they want to pay, including the Buyer Protection Fee. When you receive the offer it tells you the amount that you'll receive if you accept the offer (it will be less than the buyers offer).

·2 weeks agoThis is new since a few days ago, the offer I send as a buyer actually adds a fee on top of my offer price now, and it takes it from the seller as well.
They're upping the fees again, here we go...

·2 weeks agoYou are not understanding how it works. Ebay does not charge the buyer protection fee to sellers.

·2 weeks agoAgain, some sort of evidence might be required here to show what’s actually happening ( which is normally if an offer is made from a buyer this includes the BPF. Teh buyer still pays it though - but sellers see it as being deducted so think they are paying the fee - they aren’t)

Because clearly, by name alone it wouldn’t make sense.
The only scenario where some sellers believe they are being charged is if they accept a buyers offer. Though even then, it is the buyer who actually pays the fee.
