Beware! Do not be a numpty like me!! As a private seller sending a second chance offer MAKE SURE YOU SELECT FIVE DAYS or more. Any shorter and you are immediately charged a 35p insertion fee. I've forgotten twice now. Five days is free. Watch out too, these second chances are sent to ONE PERSON, yet they appear online for everyone to see and bid on (but the bids get nowhere, the bidder is told to contact the seller). Even worse, you may have had a £15 BIN price on the original listing; a bidder wins the auction at (say) £10. The Second chance offer is shown to all and sundry as a £9.50 BIN to everyone. Ebay has been about this told long ago, but they are still totally INEPT, and do nothing about it.

·5 days ago · EditedThere are no fees for second chance offers. The only listing upgrades that cost 35p are short duration auctions of 3 days or less or if you go over your 300 free monthly listings.
It looks like the question/issue you're raising is a bit vague, can you provide an example listing and what happened there?
Are you sending second chance offers to the underbidder on an auction because the original buyer didn't pay/asked to cancel?
Or do you mean that you're sending offers out to those watching your item who meet the criteria?

Are you issuing second chance offers to the underbidders because you have more of that particular item? If so, the second chance offer is that particular bidders last bid price.

OP5 days agoI issue a second chance offer to the leading losing bidder because I have another item the same. Not because the original bidder doesn't pay. My error is selecting 3 days, and the 35p IS automatically charged. I am not over 300 for the month (barely 30!)
Yes, the second chance offer lists as a BIN at "that particular bidders last bid price". But everyone can see it, not just that bidder. Last time it happened in July, I had a message from someone who had tried to buy it but got the message: "Hi, I'd really like to buy these but it says I need your approval first. Please could I purchase them?
Thanks, Jen" Then when I replied to her asking her to explain: "When I click on 'buy it now' I get this message saying only pre-approved buyers can buy this item and to contact seller to be added to their list in order to purchase". She shouldn't even be able to SEE the offer, let alone at that price. I checked on my phone and there it was, on full display the day after the original auction had finished. Nothing vague about it. It has been mentioned elsewhere on the forums.

A second chance offer only goes to the underbidder (or underbidders if you select more than one because you have more of that item), it doesn't generate a new live listing for all to see.
After an auction has ended, when you send a second chance offer, eBay emails the selected bidders, and they decide whether to accept.
It's free to send a Second Chance Offer. Can you go to your payments section and find th 35p you're being charged and tell us what it says next to it please?

OP5 days agoAh! That took a while (old age y'know) I put a link in my last post directing you to the second chance offer I made today but it's not there now so I can't show you. When I checked the July one it said Insertion Fee and that was not on a second ch. offer, my error! Did 3 days by mistake. OK that's clarified, thank you. ·5 days agoThanks for the link to that discussion @6333roger , certainly indicates that there's some weird issue going on there. I can only assume that eBay have tweaked something and that's the unintentional result.
