Removal of suspect knife violation
Summary: A participant expressed frustration over the removal of their cake spatula listing due to a knife policy on an online platform, despite similar items being sold by others. office-supplies-broker voiced dissatisfaction with how AI handles appeals, suggesting it's done poorly. fribblecollectables criticized the AI system, noting it was poorly programmed and trained, and implied that the management responsible for it may not be adequately competent for their roles.
I listed the following :
Boxed Set of Silver Plate - Apostle Teaspoons - Cake Forks - Sugar Tongs
I have been informed that because of this listing which is dangerous I got this removed
This listing was removed for violating our Knives policy.
I know the that no knives are listed in title or even picture
Has EBay completely lost the plot as I contacted them and set an appeal
Guess what : The appeal has been upheld because of knives violation (Der) no knives mentioned
So watch out if you have CAKE FORKS they are KNIVES now

·1 month agoThe AI has clearly been poorly programmed, poorly trained, and then probably reviewed by someone who has also been poorly trained by someone else who was poorly trained.
Experience suggests that, at the moment, eBay’s AI is not really fit for purpose.
And as someone, somewhere, has to take accountability for that system, perhaps the people at the top of that particular tree are not quite the right people to be sitting in it.

·1 month agoMy cake spatula was removed because of the knife policy, I appealed but was unsuccessful but there are plenty of spatulas for sale on eBay - does not make sense - seems that AI is also doing appeals badly - I'm fed up with AI removing items incorrectly
