POSTAGE
Summary: keedwell64, a new user, shared that they lost money on a sale due to incorrect postage label pricing and sought advice. jonatjonatjonat explained the difference between Simple Delivery and Custom Postage, suggesting using Royal Mail directly for large letter postage. keedwell64 thanked them for the help, stating their intention to use stamps next time. suelel1968 added that adjusting weight settings on eBay labels could prevent this issue by allowing for large letter options.
I am fairly new. Today I posted two parcels off and the labels were already paid and I received the full amount of the sale in both cases.
I came home and have just sold another item for which I had selected large letter at £1.55 (to send an old vinyl single record) and the label has come through for a small parcel at £3.95 meaning that I will not receive my £3.50 only £1.10.
How do I proceed for the future as I am out of pocket on this one as the 'bot' does not want to know?

·1 month agoIf you create your custom postage via ebay labels the weight is nearly always set at the highest with reverts to parcel delivery. Change the weight to under 100g and large letter postage will appear.

·1 month agoThe items you sold on 2nd September (Bob Dylan and Beatles Sets) were sold with Simple Delivery (Buyer Pays).
ebay supply a label which you use
The items you sold on 3rd September (Bob Dylan single 45s) were listed with Custom Postage. Here - you get the proceeds of the postage (£1.55 in this case) and you can then purchase your postage from where-ever you wish. It does not have to be ebays own postage options. ebay generally recommend small parcel in their own postage portal as its the most commonly used I imagine.
In your case where you listed with RM 2nd Class - just purchase direct from Royal Mail - or just use stamps.

OP1 month agoThank you so much. I eventually found that I could cancel the label and Royal Mail have received my request. Then as you say, I get a stamp and do it the old fashioned way!!
