OPEN BASKET ADDITION
Summary: thedudesstuff expressed frustration with eBay's new "open basket" feature, which allows buyers to add items to their basket after purchase but delays shipping and doesn't notify buyers about the option. They noted that sales often occur in the evening after Royal Mail's collection window, causing further delays. Additionally, completed sales are not highlighted on the seller homepage, making it difficult to track orders. andy20678 mentioned experiencing similar issues with eBay Live, while barry.110 suggested the feature might be more beneficial for live events but not for regular eBay shop sales.
OK it seems eBay has without notifying anyone added a "feature" that allows adding items to a BUYERS basket after an ITEM purchase.
So far this seems to be a 3 hour window and its countdown is in the manage your orders section of the seller hub.
In the UK Ive found most sales seem to be from 5pm till 9pm after most have come back from work and eaten.
As the ROYAL MAIL collection window for creating a pik up next day closes approx 9pm any sales up till I can do my best to ship next day.
However this delayed shipping open basket means most orders created later in the day wil not be shipped to the the basket countdown not ending before 9pm
The reasoning seems to be HEY buyers can check out your other stuff and add more in this time isnt that a great idea?
Not really - If the buyer has no idea when shopping this is an option at all as there in no information stating this open basket when purchasing
This OPEN BASKET then is only seen by the seller IF they check MANAGE ORDER.
The worst part however is as the buyer has no idea of the open basket it delays shipping only
and worst still WHEN the basket time expires this FIRM sale is now NOT pushed top the users / sellers homepage TASKS to inform them they have items to ship.
How is this a good idea or improvement?
eBay has created an open basket to allow adding for items - but have not bothered to inform the buyer they can do this.
When this 3 hour delay expires its not sent to the ebay user / sellers home page where there is normally a TASKS section witch all the items sold req shipping
This section now seems to have been replaced with a section called READY TO RESELL
So now as a seller rather than open my home page start page and seeing I have orders to ship I now have to navigate to the MANAGE ORDERS section so see if ive sold anything and if there is a coundown?
This is such a pain
I spoken to ebay 5 times in the last couple of days about this and no one seems to care - about the fact some bright spark broke eBay?

OP2 weeks agoI agree adding more stuff to an open basket from you is a great idea but the seller does not need to see this timer or have the right to overide the basket and make a label - all the seller needs is to be informed when the timer runs out that they have made a firm sale - this like it used to be sent to the TASKS section of the home page.
a little red circle with a number in and a phot of an item.
adding stuff is fine making us watch the timer not so much and of course IF there is an option to over the timer and ship that may just annoy the buyer as they needed time to shop further...

·2 weeks agosame thing when you sell on ebay live
barry.110
·2 weeks agoThat might be handy on ebay live because you might be watching a show and buy multiple items, so having a chance to add stuff without extra shipping would be good. On normal ebay shops not so much.
