Okay, are orders within that three hour period actually combined ?
Summary: neovass0 faced an issue where two separate orders placed by a buyer within minutes were not automatically combined as expected due to differing postage costs on each order. sml192 indicated that having different postage conditions could be the reason the orders weren't combined. marco@ebay mentioned that the buyer needs to add items to the basket and checkout together for combined orders, which might not align with neovass0's understanding of the system. thewelldressedtableuk expressed frustration with the platform's postage calculations, highlighting a lack of accuracy and concerns about the system's efficiency and transparency in handling packaging and postage refunds.
Hi,
I have finally had an instance where a buyer has placed two separate orders with me, within a couple of minutes. As instructed, I have patiently waited for the three hour purchase window to pass (and some), and yet the two orders have not actually been combined ? They are still showing as two different orders with two postage labels. (Yes it's simple delivery). Basically, has this feature actually worked for other people ?
I will say, with one of the items I covered postage costs but with the other, the buyer was responsible for paying postage. Is this the reason why it has not combined the buyers orders ? or am I just clutching at straws, lol. Funnily, I only changed it yesterday to encourage a sale. Either way, I have the familiar problem of just combining the orders anyway, sending them out separately or asking the buyer to cancel and buy again as a custom listing.
It's annoying, i'm only a very small seller and these are my actually my first sales in about 11 days. It used to be so much easier, you shouldn't be worried about someone buying more than one item from you. Again, simply, has the feature worked for other people ?
Thanks

·1 month agoEbay only combines postage if a buyer puts all the items in 1 basket and then goes to pay. Then it does calculate it - but for me it was way out. My buyer had 4 items for which Ebay was charging £9.25. By weighing all the items, for which the buyer gave me full details I had a happy buyer at £5.51. Yesterday 1 buyer bought 2 items separately so paid for 2 lots of postage. I could not combine the postage The weight was too much for all the items in one box but I printed out just 1 label and packed them all. I can't help but wonder when Royal Mail, Evri & In post Lockers will tell Ebay that they are losing money because of their system. I also fail to see how Ebay can suggest postage prices when they do not know the weight of the item. Furthermore Ebay seems to think that if a parcel weighs over 2kg it must be a medium one. Totally wrong as lots of items weigh over that but will pack in a small parcel very easily. Finally and this is my biggest gripe is that they do not allow for packaging. We sell mostly crockery and we pack in new boxes that we buy 50 at a time at 60p each. We only use good bubble wrap - not the sticky stuff & other packaging as required. Finally I learned today for those posting with Simple labels and a buyer says an item has arrived broken or damaged Ebay do not ask for photographic evidence before refunding, thereby leaving it open to abuse! Just how stupid is that?

Hi @neovass0 , thanks for your post.
I have seen a few transaction already where this is working ok. Please note that the buyer has to do their bit, in order for the orders to be combined (place the items together in the basket and checkout with all the item at the same time) if this doesn't happen, the buyer is basically selecting to not combine the orders, and there isn't much you could do as a seller about it, I'm afraid.
Hope this helps,
Marco

·1 month ago · EditedSorry that doesn't make sense. Surely the whole point of the 'Wait to post' feature is that buyers don't need to place all the items in their basket at the same time and checkout together, just purchase the items withinn the 3 hour window?

·1 month agoIt doesn’t make sense. If buyers know to add all items to their basket before they check out (which they don’t, I didn’t know as a buyer and had to pay two lots of postage) then what is the 3 hour wait for?

·1 month agoIf one was 'Free Postage' and the other 'Buyer pays postage' then that would definitely be why they couldn't be combined.
Haven't had any combined orders with this feature yet myself so can't comment on whether or not it works.
Unless the buyer has mentioned anything about combined postage then I would just send them separately. The buyer would have known what they were being charged for postage when they paid.
