Oh that we can contact ebay as much as they meddle with us
Summary: medealady expresses frustration over eBay's recent updates, particularly the suggestions for sellers to offer free postage, faster delivery, and AI-written descriptions, which they find impractical and costly. jonatjonatjonat acknowledges the general logic but suggests exploring other platforms for selling. kl_books mentions they offer a 30-day return policy and have had minimal returns, arguing that concerns about returns on certain items like books are low. department28 humorously considers the notion of an eBay robot managing items and notes that an email contact option is available under specific conditions on eBay's customer service page.
Latest email from ebay rummaging into listings and offering 'helpful' tips on selling. Summer is a dead time and we all know the answer...offer items free with delivery yesterday! Ebay taking over international postage like they took over payments scrapping Paypal. I fully expect my own ebay robot arriving at my house and removing all my stuff to the great ebay warehouse to sell it. Why involve the seller as ebay know better.
My latest advice states 'buyers love free postage' of course loading sellers with 拢3.38+ costs but then suggest incorporating that into selling price! Who writes this? A) it makes the item more expensive in listings and B) Buyer protection is increased as paid on item cost not postage!
'Seal the deal with faster delivery' change to 3 days or less. Er i use 3 days max anyway and with fuel costs and a car ride to post we need the buffer.
'Offer returns to build trust' er sure on books read it and return it
'Use AI to write descriptions' please...the go to for lazy sellers I would avoid it they cant spend a few minutes composing something AI always thinks will enhance your lifestyle!
If ebay want to be helpful offer an email contact as an alternative to AI then 30 mins for a human who cant help anyway.

I'm quite looking forward to the eBay robot coming round to sort through my stuff... although I think it would probably blow a fuse & require a nice long holiday afterwards... 馃榿

I recently noticed there is an email option on the Customer Service /Contact eBay help page. You have to select a topic from the list, so it would depend if what you wanted to email about is covered by one of those topics...
You can contact eBay Customer Service in the following ways:
Select Contact us at the bottom of this page
Scroll to the bottom of any eBay Help article and choose a contact option
Get in touch with us by email

路3 weeks agoI sell books
I offer free 30 day return policy.
in the last 30 days I have had 4x Returns which is 0.68% of my orders
inc. 2x Buyer didn't show up to pick up point so actually 0.34%
The actual chance a buyer would read a book and return it are so small, it isn't worth worrying about. Anywho, even if you don't accept all returns a buyer could simply say the item isn't as described and get a free return anyway.

You do get though that - in general - all of that is logical right? offering free postage and offering faster delivery and offering returns WILL all make it more likely IN GENERAL to get a sale - but of course its not going to work for everything.
Looking at what you sell - i'd suggest there are other platforms that might make you far more likely to get a sale....
