Offers incorrectly auto-declined by ebay
There appear to be a lot of technical issues with ebay at the moment.
A buyer made an offer on my item but it auto-declined when it should've auto-accepted. I set the minimum offer of £18.99. The buyer offered £19.99 but it auto-declined. She then offered £20 but again it was auto-declined. She has now given up it seems, so I've lost a buyer. Thanks ebay.

·1 week agoThe buyer protection fee on my item was £8.70, total £208.70. My prospective buyer offered £150, my minimum. The offer was automatically declined and the history said I would receive £143.56, which is £6.44 less than £150. None of this makes any sense to me.

·1 week agoThe minimum you set doesn't include the Buyer Protection Fee whereas the amount that the buyer offers does. The buyer, therefore, needed to offer at least £156.70 to meet your minimum.

·1 week agoAs someone else on this thread has said, this is not obvious at all. I have as a result lost a sale which was auto declined.

·1 week agoI think this actually works well. Seller sets lowest amount they want to receive, anything below that amount is declined automatically. EBay get so much wrong, but I don't think this is confusing, glitched or under explained.

·1 week agoI disagree. I set £150 as the minimum I wanted, the buyer offered £150 and it was autodeclined, because - I discovered when I found the offer - eBay wanted £6.44 and I would get £143.56, which is below my minimum. This was not explained anywhere. I assume the £6.44 was a % calculation.

·1 week agoI know that now, but it was not obvious to me that this was the way the fee worked. I am not alone in this!

·2 months agoOffers from buyers include the buyer protection fee so both offers would under your reserve amount.

OP2 months agoYes I know. I found out from another thread. Its not made clear that this is the case when you list an item. I assumed, as I sure many sellers do, that the price offered includes the BF, in the same way the listing price does. Confusing for buyers. They have to work out how much the BF would be on an offer. Should be pointed out to them when they make an offer and to sellers when listing.

·2 months agoBuyers have no idea what you have set to auto accept, but they are likely to offer round amounts so sellers should set the minimum accordingly.

·2 months agoYour minimum would have excluded the buyer protection fee, so the buyer's offer needs to be at least whatever £18.99 plus the buyer protection fee is in order to be auto accepted. That will be more than £20.
