How to allow Collection as an option.
Summary: abrahamtoast was trying to sell a bulky item and wanted to offer both Simple Delivery and collection as options but found it challenging due to existing postage policies. After some trial and error, they managed to resolve the issue, but noted the complexity involved. marco@ebay provided a suggestion to use help pages and reminded about payment rules. vinylscot expressed frustration with the help pages and the need to delete postage options to enable collection. sml192 suggested adding the collection option to the relevant postage policy.
This should be simple, and I'm hoping it is, but I can't work it out.
I have a bulky item, which I would much rather sell by collection from my home, but I don't want to select collection as the ONLY option. I am quite willing to send it by Simple Delivery - it weighs a little over 15kg, and is within the permitted dimensions.
How can I select postage as Simple Delivery, but also allow collection as an option.
Everything I've tried seems to exclude either one or the other - I can't work out how to get BOTH.
Any help gratefully received.

Glad to see you managed to add collection to your listing, in future, you can use our help pages and follow the instructions there to do this. If you click here, you can see how to do it in case you'd like to do this again.
Please note that that cash on collection is no longer allowed, if you offer collection, the buyer still has to pay through eBay, and then they can go over and collect the item.

·3 weeks agoThanks Marco. It was complicated, as I had postage policies set up, and it was extremely difficult to work out how to allow collection. Following the help pages to the letter did not resolve the matter, and I had to delete the majority of my postage options, before it magically did allow me to do it, for no apparent reason. My success was purely down to trial and error, and not at all down to eBay's rather poor help pages.
I am aware of the rules regarding payment, etc. Thanks again.

·3 weeks agoIf you are using Postage Policies then the option for collection needs to be added to the relevant policy.

·3 weeks agoThat would be an obvious solution, but on the listing page, it would not allow me to do so. There was obviously something in one of my settings which was stopping it from being offered in any of them, as I was finally able to proceed after deleting all my policies which were currently unused. eBay's "help" pages didn't suggest that, I just tried it as a sort of "Hail Mary", and it worked. (I still couldn't simply add it to an existing policy, but at least it now let me set up a new one.)

OP3 weeks agoI finally worked it out, but don't ask me how. Just a lot of trial and error.
It seems insanely complicated if you already have postage policies in place.
